What kind of Winshield Washer Fluid Is This?

Okay, for an inane post, I've got to hand it to Merc for their windwhield washer fluid! Really. And, where do I get more when I need it?

For those that didn't notice (unless my car is unique), the washer fluid cuts through about any grime on the windscreen with only one or two squirts. Every other car I've owned I've had to keep squirting and squirting and squirting the fluid and it never got as clean. The Merc stuff even smells weird, like very chemically, and does not appear blue. I dunno where you but washer fluid that ain't blue.

Well, on the windshield washing ability the merc wins hands down for me!

The MB Parts Department has a refill supply, but the price will be a surprise.

I agree, I've never seem washer fluid that worked so well. The roads around Toronto have been really grimy over the past few weeks and that fluid cuts right through it. Anyone know how much it costs?

Yeah I know, I kinda like the smell myself! My dealer said they use regular washer fluid for refills. They say the don't sell it. Also try P21 washer booster, it smells almost the same and you can make your own because it's a concentrated fluid you mix with water.

There are two MB washer fluids "Summer Fit" and "Winter Fit." Both come in small vials as concentrate to mix with distilled to add the the resevoir when empty.

I bought a vial for $4 from the parts dept, same price as a jug of generic.

must be a German thing.
Audis and VWs also had great cleaning and smelling windshield fluid that came with the car.

Einszett has a couple products that's very similar to the German OEM windshield fluid (I swear by their polish and waxing products):

I'd been waiting on someone to comment on this. After a service refill runs out I too miss the stuff they use.

what a crazy coincidence, I just ran out as well, and called a dealer nearby and they said they had the concentrate for $9 ...
I'm going to get it tomorrow, it's just too good to pass up ... apparently you mix it with regular washer fluid, or water.

We'll see

yea that stuff leaves my window so clean, its like someone used windex on it. it kind of has a rubbing alcohol smell to it, but i doubt they have any of that corrosive stuff in the mix. i wonder why we dont see this stuff on the shelves more?

I use now the Winter Ice from Sunoco. It's good for up to -40 degree Celsius.

It too is very good. I know that my dealer hard the original fluid but it was so expensive that nobody bought it. We use too much of the stuff. With headlight cleaning and windshield cleaning I use gallons of the stuff.
