Roadtrip -- 26.5 mpg
I love the planted feel of the car at highway speeds, but it seemed most happy doing between 80 km/h and 120 km/h on the two-lane roads. Very docile. Once in a while, I would punch the throttle to pass, and that brings the engine and the exhaust to life.

On relatively hilly (not mountainous) side roads, I was able to get the car down to 8.7 L/100km (27 mpg). But cruising on the highway at 120 km/h seemed to have brought it back up to 9.0 L/100km (26 mpg).

On that note, 8.8 L / 100km was much better than what I expected from a car that only had 2600km on it. I didn't expect to fully break in the car until about 8000 km. It seems to be settling in very nicely, and I am hoping that it will get even better over the course of the next 4000 km.
Anybody else try driving the car in that 80 km/h to 100 km/h sweetspot?

Maybe I'll even see improvements, once the car has more miles (It is still under 500).
I have the C300 4Matic version, and I too found the acceleration to be fast enough for daily driving and passing by other slow cars on the highway.
I find the acceleration to be fast from 80km/h to 120km/h .
One minor annoyance with the 7 speed auto tranny I find in our car is a bit slow to respond when shifting to the next gear, which takes approx 1 second. One day I as trying to pass this car on the highway in front of me by changing to the left lane. As I signaled the right turn signal, I shifted using the semi-manual to down shift one gear. As I down-shifted, there wasn't any response and then as I was about to tap the gear knob again, THEN it shifted down.
Anyone else thought the response time was kind of slow?
Only when you shift the gears with the gear knob. Not when its on at auto shift.
I have a picture i posted of 31 I think, as my record for mpg
: I betcha if I had reset the trip after the car has been rolling, I should get better mileage. But in the real world, there will be stop-and-go. On this particular trip, I was stuck behind a tractor (the real kind) for about 6 km and could see my MPG dropping. Maybe there should be two running tallies:
(1) Best ever segment MPG
(2) Best historical MPG
Overall, 2500 km on the car and I am running 12 L/100km.

Thanks for the info
TANKTUBE67 -- I did an average of 47 mph over the entire 130 mi trip. That includes a few minutes of warmup, doing 90km/h on some side roads, getting stuck behind that F!ing tractor, red lights, and 120 km/h on the highway. Since the police started confiscating cars if caught driving 50 km/h over speed limit, I have slowed down (a little).
