Nitpicky comment about the valet key

When you remove the little silver valet key, the valet parker has no way to hang your key up with the others because the key ring part goes away. What's up with that?

since you have a W204, you should have the new style "Chrome" key. A tiny loop appears when you remove the key blade.

it was much worse in the previous smart key. Once the blad was removed, there wasn't even a loop anywhere on the smart key

It's not a loop...it's an open semi-circle....

not sure where you see a loop.

Not sure I can see the pic too well, but it appears that the "little key" is still in there. What does it look like when you take it out?

Um..he is thinking that the key you remove is the valet key and its not..thats the key you take with you. The valet key is the actual key, you remove the blade key and take that with you. You can't start the car with the blade key, you can just lock the glove box. The first poster is correct, this is a very bad design considering a lot of Benz owners probably use valet.

I dunno, this is a key I ordered through OEMPartsDirect since my car is a 2006. The coolest feature is that the little loop goes inside the key and is hidden when the blade is stuck back in.

Dude...are you messing with us?

I can clearly see that the blade (valet key) is in there. You can see the ridge that is the top of the valet key. How about some clear shots of the key with the blade in...and out....just for clarification?

If it is true....I want to find out why no one else here has that key.

He is right, there were some older Smart Keys that had the small loop that would appear when the key blade was removed. But this was changed, and now the loop is no longer supplied by MB in the US. Not sure about other countries.

As stated earlier have the valet use a rubber band. That is what I did when I used to valet

This is frustrating. I'll take pics later today. In and out. If someone beats me to it, all the better.

I can absolutely, positively confirm that there are 2 versions of the chrome smart key. One that has a little metal loop that appears when the blade key is taken out, and one that dosen't have it.

<< this is a very bad design considering a lot of Benz owners probably use valet.>>

Not me. If my car is going to be abused, smoked in, doors dinged up etc, I will do it.

+1... I had ordered the chrome smart key from oempartsdirect before as well when I had my 203 and confirm that version had the metal loop when the blade key is taken out.

Why MB took that out on the new keys is stupid.

Here's a pic I found from another thread that shows the loop more clearly.
