Pairing a Windows Mobile 5/6 PPC with bluetooth

Hey all,

Picked up my new c180k yesterday and took me a while to get my windows mobile 6 pocket pc paired with it, so I thought I'd post the how to here.

First I tried following the instructions in the manual:
  1. set your phone to appear to other devices
  2. enter passcode in car
  3. enter same passcode in phone

This repeatedly failed so I went onto the web and came across this software http://www.jetwaremobile.com/. I installed this onto my phone and then tried again to pair with the car and this time it was succesful

I'm only using the unregistered version of the software (30 day trial). As long as it keeps working I'll register it (only $13 or so).

Anyway hope this helps someone!

Wow, I've been having fits with my Microsoft OS pairing with my car. The phone pairs, but none of the other functions work. I may give that a shot.

Congrats on getting the car, don't ding it up on some of those Irish country roads...

Jetwaremobile is great software. I used it with my Cingular 8125 to pair it with my BMW 525 a few years back. Without it, I could only get speakerphone functions. jetwaremobile allowed me to use the dialing, contacts lists, etc.

Well worth the $13!!!

I never had any success with any PPC and bluetooth integration in my M3, 525, and Audi. Once I switched over to the Blackberry Curve...all is well now.

Never had any problems pairing up my WM6 device; but I was hoping for some the increased functionality like signal strength, automatic contact syncing or ringtones over bluetooth. Sadly, doesn't look like the w204 supports any of those.

I have paired both mine and my wifes WM6 devices without any hassles or any need for extra software on the WM6 device.

Would need some interesting physics to get increased signal strength when there is no physical connection to the phone?

You can select a single contact or multiple contacts and beam them into the cars address book quite happily. Sadly the address does not appear to be usable for the Sat Nav. In fact the only way I have managed to get an address into the adress book that is usable by the Sat Nav was to enter it directly into the Sat Nav and save it from there.

My wife is loving the car and so far I am completely impressed with it.

Signal strength meter on the display.

My wife's Audi, and my previous BMW, both showed the signal strength on the display ... as well as automatically picking up my address book without me having to futz around with beaming individual entries over BT. How pedestrian.

Thanks for the heads up. Although, by the time my car finally arrives, I might have a new phone...

Sorry about that, I misunderstood. For me, the display does show signal strength.

OK, I've been all over this forum, the electronics forum, and other forums looking for someone who had any sort of suggestion to help my MS Opp Treo work with the MB BT.

This is the suggestion that worked. I downloaded it and everything appears to work like it should.

I have one minor exception in that, when I sent my contacts to the MB BT, they all came up as "unknown" in the MB entry system. So now I have 200 "unknown" listings in my memory. The rest of the info is right.

Anyway, thanks for the info Mercdub. You have proven once again that the Irish are clearly the smartest people in the world....

As a former Treo owner myself, not overly happy about the clunkiness of the WM6 on my AT&T Tilt, but have no complaints with over a month of using the jetware program.

ok, this is killing me. i am new to winmo and i need to get this working but have been unsuccessful so far. been trying for months and now i am fed up.

for those of you who have successfully paired your wm phone to your c without the jetware please tell me step by step what you did to get it working. it is like neither my phone sees my car and my car doesn't see my phone. i have gotten it to work with my other Sony Ericsson phone and my iPhone as well but this Xperia is killing me!!!

An easier way is to reverse pair. Let your phone find your car and then pair them together.
