1k-3k Service due
My car is about to hit 2k miles mark (1.9k) and I remembered my saleman told me to bring my car back around that time for its first service. Should I wait until I get around 2.5k and bring it in or bring it in now? any experiences with early or late first service due date. Thanks

Yeah after you go over 3k miles the free "check up" is no longer valid. It's probably in your benefit to take them up on the offer if its easy for you to drop by a dealership. They can plug into the computer and scan for any issues that may have popped up that haven't been brought to your attention. They can also preform any service bulletins, car companies don't like the word recall anymore, but thats pretty much what a service bulletin is. I think to be an actual recall it has to effect a certain amount of cars and recalls are usually issued by a third party or something like that. Most of the time the service bulletins just fix minor things that could go wrong, more of a preventive thing.

Bring a good book in case they are backed up. I scheduled for 10:00 on a Saturday and had a book. They still hadn't touched some 8:00 am cars when I got there. They were done by 11:30, so 1 1/2 hr. The book helped, you can only spend so much time in the showroom without wanting to spend a whole lot more money ;-)

3K mile check

The longer you wait, the more likely some impending defect will show up to be spotted that day. I took my C300 in today for the 3K checkup at 2840 miles and after checking for stored codes the tech asked if I'd like to see the bottom of the car so he put it on the lift and pulled off the engine belly pans for a look see. And sure enough, he spotted a coolant seep from from both ends of the upper radiator hose. There is a buildup of dried bright green antifreeze on the bottom side of the hose ends. This is the hose that runs from the front center of the engine to the upper right of the radiator. It does not use clamps but instead snaps onto the fittings with an internal o-ring. A new hose and o-rings have been ordered and I will drop by for a change out when the parts arrive.

Wait/don't wait?

This post is confusing to say the least. It's not a leak but a seep and can wait. As to a B service, my car is not getting one. Before my W203 and it's free service during the warranty period, I changed my own oil, filters, brake pads, shocks and so on.
And since the new car has no free anything, I will resume my own maintenance program. This does not affect the warranty as long as records are kept
