Gas Mileage Consumption

Hi everyone, I was wondering what the gas mileage everyone is getting. I know during winter times the gas consumption is much greater than it is during the summer.

I drive the C300 4MATIC, on an average I get about 460km per tank which is roughly equal to 290 miles until the Gas station pump lights up on the dash. So without calculating the reserve that should be 58 Litres or 15.3 gallons.

From the numbers I get around 19 mpg per tank on average for several tanks now. That seems a bit low for my C300 4MATIC. I'm wondering what everyone else is getting over there.

Oh, and my car mileage is approximately 18xx miles so far.

Sorry for the repost if there is already one covered. I searched and couldn't find one in the w204 forum.

We get anywhere from 22-24 with our non-4 Matic car and I think that is relatively low considering you can get 30 mpg out of a new Corvette.

18mpg

Using the trip computer for the past few tanks once above the 1000 burn-in period, I have gotten about 18 mpg with an avg. spd of about 30mph. Actually, it is usually high 17's, but this last tank was 18.1. I drive a c300sport 4matic with about 1900 miles on it.

My wife's Honda Pilot gets better gas mileage. It has awd and a 6cyl also, probably weighs about the same (approaching 4000 pounds) but is way bigger and less aerodynamic. So what gives.

Why would we use 93 octane or higher when it only requires 91?

I get 21-23. Today at my fill up the computer said 21.7, and I calculated 21.2.

EVERYTHING DEPENDS ON HOW THE CAR IS USED.

I've seen a low of about 19 mpg, with low temps and mostly city driving.

I've seen a high of 28 mpg, with warm weather and mostly freeway driving.

In the past couple of months, with very spare usage [only a couple of hundred miles a month] doing normal suburban errand-running [average trip length 15-25 miles roundtrip], we've been averaging 20-21 mpg.

All this compares favorably with our '02 C240, which had 60 fewer hp and shorter gearing. More power, same or less fuel consumption....no complaints here.

And FYI, in many areas there are three and only three kinds of gasoline - 87, 89, and 92-93 octane. That help?

2008 C-350 Palladium Silver and MM.
My C350 has been getting between 22 and 25 mpg. I wasn't doing that well at the beginning, but it has improved a lot since after the first 1500 miles.

On my trip to work I have been trying to see just how good I can get it. My trip is 22 miles and the best I have done so far was 26.7 mpg for the trip. How many times you have to excelerate from a stop seems to be the biggest driver that drives down the mpg.

My C300 is getting about 25.6 mpg on the tank. The "from start" trip computer is different, though. On most of my driving, I'm seeing it climb to about 28.4, then drop once I leave the freeway. On longer drives (50+ miles) I'm seeing over 30. Those tend to drop too once leaving the freeway.

I don't quite (yet) understand how the trip computer is working. It starts at about 19.7 or so for city driving. Once I reach the freeway, it continues to climb until reaching the max (as above). I haven't yet tried a long trip, so I don't know what 200 miles will do to it. What bothers me is how fast it drops once leaving the freeway. In about 1 mile (hill included and a stop light or two), it can drop from 28.2 down to 27.0. ??

(Weather here is "cold/cool", in the 30s and 40s, and we're using that winter-time gas with fake ingredients ;-)

My C300 4Matic trip computer is only reporting 16mpg most of time currently at 1300miles

Highest mpg I have ever seen with my car in high way with cruse control at 70mph was 24mpg

When I picked up my car from the factory in Sindelfingen, I was informed that my car was filled up with Super Unleaded (99 Ron).

My guess is that the MPG figures quoted by MB are based on High Octane fuel. Bearing in mind that lower octane fuel returns lower MPG figures.

I currently use Shell V-Power 99 Ron in the UK. With just over 2K miles on the clock, I get 21.9 in town and 29 on the motorway (freeway)

Your EU and UK octane numbers don't compare directly to US octane numbers, before anyone starts getting excited...

Your consumption range sounds right on.

O man,
I thought I was the only one getting gas mileage on the low side.

I hope our cars gas consumption improves as the car breaks in more.

Oh yah, my driving style was 70% highway driving with a non heavy foot. My average speed is around 70mph.

these poor MPG numbers, yet no DFI engine for 2009. MB is making a mistake with that.

4matic is 4mpg

I figure for those of us with the 4matic that's about the right calculation: 4mpg. A full tank of gas might get us 60 miles total.

Thks jrct9454,

For anyone interested:

( RON Octane Rating x 0.95 = AKI Octane Rating )

98 RON Octane x 0.95 = 93.1 AKI Octane (US measure)
100 RON Octane x 0.95 = 95 AKI Octane (US measure)

i think it's insane that people can get 30+ mpg..

the most i've ever gotten is something like 28.7mpg cruising between 70-80mph on the freeway for a good 30 minutes, after resetting the meter once cruising speed was achieved.
