You will enjoy the car. The wait is worth it, but sometimes unbearable. Just did a long drive 400 km in one sting, feel solid and very comfy.

Tell me about it. Ordered it (320 CDI SW) end January and expected to be delivered by the same date as yours.

Funny that, on a lot of MB forums, there's a lot of people waiting theirs MB end May also. Something that we don't know ?

C220 CDI with OPTIONS!
Well, I'm selling my BMW 320 and just put in an order for my first MB ... shouldn't have waited so long to decide, as that new Luxury car Tax adds a quite a sting to the end price!

|| Options chosen || OLD RRP || NEW RRP (as of 04.07.08)
|| C220 CDI || 61300 || 61530
|| Avantgarde (954) || 5730 || 6067
|| Vision Package (VP1) || 4530 || 4799
|| Memory Seats (241,275) || 2520 || 2670
|| Split Rear Seats (287) || 600 || 635
|| Comand APS (512) || 3930 || 4163
|| Heated Seats (873) || 700 || 742
|| Keyless GO (889) || 1710 || 1812
|| Panoramic (413) || 1000 || 1060
|| Undershield (481) || 300 || 317
|| Dynamic Handling (483) || 2260 || 2394
|| Metallic Paint || 1910 || 2023
|| 17" Wheels (R22) || 910 || 1812

By the time you add registration, dealer delivery and stamp duty that was roughly $95.5K (OLD RRP) and a new grand total of a tad under $99K .

So, there you have it - what every dealership in Melbourne will quote you (the major difference being a variance of 300-900 for dealer delivery) ... all I can say is thank heavens for novated leases and extended finance :P

C220 CDI with OPTIONS!
So, my order is finally in, for a Cubanite Silver C220 CDI with Black Leather and Aluminium Trim. Sporting the Avantgarde (954),Vision Package (VP1), Memory Seats (241 / 275), Splitfold rear Seats (287), COMAND APS (512), Heated Front Seats (873), Keyless GO (889), Panoramic Sunroof (413), Undershield (481), Dynamic Handling Package (483), Active Light System (616 / 621) and 17" Wheels (R22) For a grand total of $95,000 on the road.

So the next question is what do you other Aussies pay for insurance?

I'm a "rating one for life" driver, I ask for comprehensive insurance, with the rental car, windscreen replacement and No Claim Bonus options:

AAMI offered a measly $1435/y rate, - one windscreen, 15 days rental (at reduced 15/day rate) and NCB

RACV and NRMA both were 1300/y for the windscreen, 15 day car hire (free - but only up to a 30/day car) and NCB. The price dropped to 1100 if you dropped the car hire and NCB.

CGU were down at 980/y without any of the options ... could not for the life of me work out how that compared - no details on the options were available, and I gave up being on hold to ask someone about it.

Allianz were also 1432/y - but offered windscreen and glass replacement (i.e. if someone smashes up all your windows - covered as part of a single no excess claim), the car hire was for 15 days for a car of up to 75/day value (!!) and of course the NCB. The other thing of note I noticed, they had a TWO year (not one) car replacement policy -- i.e. if your brand new car was written off in the first two years - instant new one, end of story. Even if you have a "market value" (instead of "agreed value") policy.

Finally, Mercedes themselves also offer insurance (and are underwritten by Allianz) and offered 1135/y. This includes the windscreen replacement, replacement Merc to drive, one NCB/year and ... all repairs are handled by Merc - no "multiple quotes", no "preferred repairers only" - straight to the Merc shops for full merc parts and then to the Merc body shops for certified Merc paint.

I'm leaning towards the latter at this stage.

I can't remember the exact price. But I am with NRMA, c200k Avant., keyless go, alarm, vision package, mm with Windscreen and hire car options, 65% NCB, I think I am paying about $100 a month.

Cheers

I'm paying about $1080 for RACV without taking up any of the options. I didn't get a quote from MB insurance, but that one looks good. Perhaps I should have taken it.

I like your options. I too have C220cdi with COMAND, Avant Garde, Vision, Active lights, Rear folding seats, Heated seats, Memory seats. But not panoramic, undershield or keyless go.

Hopefully the luxury car tax will not go through. Apparently it may be blocked yet.
