New member here and need some suggestions and help.

My in laws put down a deposit on 08 Steel Grey/Black C350 Sport with P2 package and 18" AMG Wheels around Sept 07.

Well, 5 months of hearing "It's coming in next week!" my father in law cancelled the order and got his deposit back.

The dealers excuse to him was that the car is in high demand and it's back ordered. I don't know much about the new C350, but a wait of atleast 5 months seems crazy to me.

The dealership was Mercedes of Manhattan. He really still wants this car. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this.

Welcome and love the S2000. No matter what there is nothing like driving to a 9k redline. It is just something you have to feel - no words can do it justice.

I special ordered my C350 and will wait about 8 weeks. I have read some threads where other waited much longer - like your in laws. I cannot say why.

I feel as if the salesman kept on selling off the car they ordered to make more money.

 

I don't know so much about the whole "back order" thing but the car in the Steel Grey color combo with the PII package and so fourth is in pretty much high demand right now in the NY tri-state area. That's the color I was searching for my wifes C300 and the picking with the PII package was slim to none. There is however a large shipment of C's coming in on the 15-16th of this month, so you may want to make a few phone calls to see who's getting what and what's available.

You'll need to do some leg work. Call multiple dealers in neighboring states. Information gathered from several dealers will reveal what is coming to the US in the next few months and what is spoken for. I talked to one helpful saleswomen who told me every car coming to the western US states for the next three months that matched my color and options.

Id have to say the dealer is some what on the right track
it really is in high demand especially if you specify your package.
not really much to play around with.

however 5 months is a very long wait.
did you check Merc @ northernblvd? or dealers in NJ?

couldnt they locate your spec. car from another dealer?

come to think of it I haven't really seen any C350's in the tri-state area?

at 1st I did lean towards the C350 but they dont have the 4matic package in the US. so I got the C300 + 4matic pkgII

 

Depending on the combination of ext/int color, options, etc. it can get delayed for some time.

 

My car should be here this week after waiting 5.5 months for the car. You should have keep your order while looking else where. I was starting to look around as some dealerships had a couple C350's with 400-1000km's. So I was thinking of picking one up but then my dealership said my car was already on rail to the dealership.

I love the S2K, I actually wanted to pick one up but my wife wanted the C350, hopefully this summer I will pick up an 00-01 S2k or next summer @ the latest. Here in Canada the prices are crazy on the S2K's. I was looking @ 00-01 and I see them in Atlanta and Flordia for like 11-14K here in canada with high km's the cheapest you can find a 2000 is like $19-20,000.

 

I know I was on a waiting list with a 1g deposit, for my car, and I herd this story that is on the boat, its at the port, its outside the port, its at customs, oh that car got bougt by a different dealership.

It took 3 months. When he said a month. But in Fl I am only one of six with the same car as mine.. makes me feel 2% better. LOL
