ipod integration kit with or without holder?
I was wondering who among you have the ipod integration kit and does your glove box have a IPOD holder (ipod cradel) or just a wire to plug your ipod???

well I guess that is their standard. I was expecting it with the Ipod cradel that was shown on the original mercedes accessories.

Lucky you, the holder doesn't come with the ipod kit, you even have to pay extra for the mandatory line amplifier. Your dealer must have been very generous and ordered or threw in the holder too. Did your car come with the kit or you had it installed later?

Hey,
I got the dealer to install it as part of the deal when I bought the car. The only thing they didn't put in was the iPod Adapter Amplifier which I have to get installed cause the sound is a little weak and I heard that would fix the problem. Yea the holder they put in kinda looks like it's made out of foam but is hard enough to hold the ipod, so it won't scratch the unit or anything.
Regards,
Daniel

the holder is just a velor covered plastic shell. It only costed $20 from the dealer, but I think it does a good job in keeping the iPod from sliding around and getting scratched in the glove box.

Mine came with the cradle and the line amplifier for $340 (+$200 install). I am not too happy with the cradle. It looks good in the glove compartment but does not hold the Ipod firmly in place. If I have a silicone skin on- it fits perfectly. I have also had a problem with the "gromet" the use at the pass through point. It doesn't stay in place and pops out if touched. I think I'll be going back to the dealership tomorrow.

I am not sure why so many people are interested in the holders. The weight and cable tension are more than enough to keep it in place, the glove compartment is carpeted and will not scratch it unless you drive on VERY rough roads AND keep hard objects in the glove compartment. I have mine in a silicone and I think it's more than enough.
