DUI driver ruined my night

Had an unfortunate meeting with a DUI driver last night. Anyone know of a Body shop who can bring this back to new in the Western Chicagoland area?

If the car is the only thing that is damaged than sounds like you came out ok. It's a shame. Best of luck bringing her back to life.

You will need a new quarter for sure, I wouldn't want that bondo'd back together. Make sure you demand OEM parts new, and not reconditioned, junked or after market. Glad you were ok too. Also make sure they blend the rear door, trunk and sail panel. Other wise it will not match well.

Hello,

It is very sad to hear about your accident. I hope that your vehicle is repairable to factory condition. I am glad to know that you are okay.

I hope the law prosecutes the other driver to the fullest extent!

Good day.

I don't know about your state but Ca requires said damage to be 50% - 80% of NADA value. We are looking at about $8-$9K of damage. Not likely to be totaled.

Can't it also be totalled if the frame suffers damage?

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, you saved me a little leg work.

To everybody else, thanks for the words of support. I received some follow up from the police today. The driver tested at over twice the legal limit for blood alcohol level. He was driving with his 6 year old son in the truck with him at the time of the wreck. Now confirmed, no license, no insurance, not his vehicle. The owner has no insurance either. In light of this news it is really scary to think this knucklehead was on the road at all. My MB's sacrifice did the world a favor by stopping him from doing far worse damage.
Too bad he posted $300 and is probably right back to knocking down some more beer.

This is really bad but dont worry a good bodyshop can make miracles this days..if you have the money of course.
The main think is that you are ok the car can and will be fixed.

that's why i said try. i know some close people that have had accidents not as bad as this, and they were able to write it off as totaled. one of them was an 06' BMW 745i, and it was marked total.

who knows, as long as homie is safe and sound!

I've seen the same story played over and over. Seems that if State laws required the vehicle owner to be financially responsible, they'd quit loaning their vehicles to drunks.

In Kalifornika they are.

Back in the 80's I was hit by a DUI dirtbag. He was hammered. He had no license. He was in a borrowed car (stolen from his employer actually) oh.. and the best part, he was non-English speaking illegal alien. I hope the owner of the car went to jail for employing an illegal. Last I heard the dude skipped across the border after bailing out and my insurance company had to foot the initial bill for my car and medical.

Making the owner of the car liable for the damage really does not seem to be a much of a factor.

I learned this was CA the hard way after I loaned a car to a pal who then got into a crash and my insurance (i.e. me) had to pay for it. I seldom let people behind the wheels of my cars.

I finally got my car back. It had been in the shop for FOUR months. But it looks perfect. Can't tell anything happened. We used a MB certified body shop and it ended up costing $400 more than what the insurance would pay...but I think the end result speaks for itself and i'm glad i chose to spend a little extra.

It's so wierd to drive this thing now, I've been in my QX4 and G35 for the last few months so it's really like haveing a new car again.
