SO this morning when i drove to work, i got out the car and did a quick walk around the car to see if everything is alright, and i noticed the bottom left fog light has a giant rock chip and hole in it, the glass/plastice is cracked/shattered with a peble like hole.
called The dealer, they dont cover it, costing me 200$! to replace it,
Man since igot the car i had a transfer case get torn to shreds, chipped bumer, shopping cart hitting the car, and now a broken glass for the fog lights.

I kind of know how you feel.

I was washing my car today, and realized 2 paint chipped size of a small ant; due to the gravels the big trucks picks up and gets thrown back at our cars. Since the damage is only cosmetic and not very big, its not worth to fix it, but then I suffer looking at it every time i look at my car.

Yeah your are right I was just reading my contract . They don't cover rock chips on bumpers or "windshields" and the financial rep did mention that to me before taking over the car. I have a small one just under the grill, its not noticeable but it sure does hurt when repairs hit your wallet.

if you're really tripping, you can get some Lamin-X foglight films. it protects the fog and you can get colors for it

Sorry about your troubles Igor....I got the clear bra myself but it only covers the hood and mirrors. Dealer says that they have tried installing clear bra's over the bottom of the car but they come off due to the angles and curves. On a side note, could you tell me what rims you are running on your car?

A good installer should have no issues installing a clear bra on the front bumper.

I had Ventureshield installed on the hood, front bumper, side mirrors, headlights, foglights and behind the door handles. The front bumper of the E63 is very curved, and the the film lays down perfectly.

Try finding a reputable shop. Here in So. Cal., Aerotect is a great shop. I've been using them for years.

why are you worried with the few rock chips that you have on your new car??

I know how it feels. I have 2 of such chip on my c350, one on the hood, the other on rear passenger side....

i am not sure buying a honda civic is really doing anything much to prevent this. If I were you, I'd drive my c class to death and save the $$ you spend towards your honda for a new Merc in a couple years. Maybe get the new E series by then

Thats my plan Make me feel a little better looking at those damn chips!

What's the damage for "clearing" all those section?

Anyone know any good installer in NY metro area?

The transfer case, how did it get torn to shreds? If this is a defect they should cover it then. Fight with MBUSA.

Most comprehensive insurance will cover it. And in the case of broken glass, often the deductible is less. I always carry $50 deductible on comprehensive insurance; in Colorado, rock hits are very common. (Just had a fog light get hit on our Audi allroad. Because of the insurance, it costs us $50 for entire new light assembly. With parts and labor, it would have been over $300.)

A basic job should be around $500. For custom pieces, maybe another $100. If you want the entire hood covered, probably another $400.

Prices vary pretty wildly though...try to avoid dealerships, as they will charge much more just to outsource the job.

Still wondering why MB uses glass for the fog lights since road debris hits it quite often.

Don't understand. Why would the dealer cover it? Sounds like an insurance claim to me.
