The Two K&N filters replace the stock filters located int he stock air box. They have better flow and better protection from particulates.
On a side note for anyone looking to buy the K&N's, make sure you shop around, I have seen them as low as $34 each instead of over $60 each.

2008 Mercedes C300 4Matic
I just bougt 2 last week for 50$ each, but will wait for my next service appointment to get the merc dealership to put them in as I have no clue how to do so, tryed but was difficult. (Coming from a non-mechanic type) lol

Yes, thank you. I've been using them for years. I was referring to the cold air intakes. There are filters at the ends and the chrome tubes and the tubes look as if they run into the area of the stock air boxes which have filters in them. So, it appears as if there would be 4 filters (at the ends of the red arrows in the pic below).
