Nothing says PERFORMANCE like a set of open element air filters that inhale HOT engine bay and cross radiator air...
Here's the deal, cold "dense" air is the key to not only better fuel economy but better performance. In general, the air that is outside the engine bay area is usually (as a rule of thumb) cooler than the air within the engine compartment, this is why auto manufactures and most of the top performance tuning companies design their air intake tracks to withdraw air from AWAY from the engine bay area. These systems, more commonly called cold air setups, do in fact what the name says. They help draw in air from the front of the vehicle, before it is warmed up through the radiator or the engine. This is proven to be the best in over-all performance benefits for general street and race use.
The open element filters shown, albeit are less restrictive than most anything OEM (which will probably account for any of the claimed HP increasement), gain in one area, but give in another. Their short length and open element design will also induce a higher intake growl, which many foresee as "a power increase" or in some cases worth a grin. It'll raise more points on the ego scale, than on the dyno, but that's not to say it's a bad thing. I personally like that sound, but it doesn't mean you're getting any more power to the ground.
On the other hand, if you're into the "show factor" and really don't care for the solid performance figures, then by all means you cant go wrong with a set of these. They'll look HOT... no pun intended...
IMO, I'll pass on these, but may consider a similar setup as long as the filters are routed to a place where they're away from the engine and radiator, and can be easily reached for general cleaning / inspection...

Here's what the ad says. Notice the misspelled words and the blue sky claims backed up by zero data.

This outstanding show quality Ram-filter is the Easiest Tuner option for your Mercedes Benz. They lasts forever & give performance without a doubt. The Ram-Filter will allow your engine to gain more peak performance while gaining more miles per gallon. Utilizing the same Mercedes cold air inlets, the Ram-Filter draws more volume with it's open end design. This short ram CAI system produces a nice growl under full throttle. The Ram-Filter is reusable , it cleans simply with warm water & laundry detergent. The Poly Foam element is thick and obstructs dirt not flow. Magazine test comparisons have shown that this type of Ram air Filter outperforms cheaper cone filters. This system typically retails for over $380. The Ram-Filter is the perfect intake, when you want a first rate increase and don't want to break the bank. Comes complete with Filters, pipes, clamps, gaskets for Oem boxes + install heip.
______________
The senior Tech at my dealer (who has been working on my cars for some years) told me that he replaces a lot of mass air flow meters that are damaged by dirt getting through neglected air filters. Who says this mod filters better than the OE filter? The seller doesn't come right out and make that claim but hints at it, probably to avoid liability. This kind of mod would very likely void any warranty claims on the intake components contaminated by debris getting through.
You asked.

No verified dyno charts...no care.
You would probably be better off with a standard K&N in the factory setup, unless you are looking for the "growl".

Don't
waste your time or money on k/n,the stock filters you can pick up from places like autohausaz.com will flow all the air you need. After all the car is governed to a top speed it does not run out of power for want of any more air coming through the highly efficient oem filter.

Ok so Im slow... Are you guys saying that even a cold air intake from a better known brand would not help with HP/TQ and rumble. Because on Need for Speed underground it did!!

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I have found CAI systems rob low end torque on naturally aspirated engines and provide little benefit to turbo engines, even with heat shields, on cars with few engine modifications. Plus, not many people are driving around on the streets with their engines in the "peak performance" range (the ad suggests this is where the improvement is). They sound and look good though.

Is the K&N worth it over the OEM filters? Cause I heard we need two of them K&N's and they ain't cheap haha. What will it give us a better sound or more performance? (The K&N filters)
