Chip Tuning

I know with the VW's there were chip programmers out there that simply reflashed the computer on the VW's to different tunes. Has anyone seen something like this for the Mercedes Crowd? Is there anything out there for the 204 C350 yet? Who has tried what, and what were your impressions?

did you got to SI to get this done? i heard the car stock caps at 130 mph. i watched a video on youtube that showed the c350 doing 134 not sure if he flashed his chip but the car seemed really quick. here is the link.

SI is a competing ECU flash. With both flashes, all speed governers are removed.

That is a stock engine. The cap is at 130mph but it wont kick in untill a few seconds after you PASS 130. If you watch closely you can see the rpms drop as if it was a down shift, that is exactly what the gov. will do.

So when you say flash are you actually sending your ECU out for a new chip to be installed in it, can you manually install a chip, or is it actually a module that you connect to one of the Dianostic ports that lets you flash the ECU without touching it? Sorry for my lack here, but like I said I'm new to the MB tuning world.

from what i understand you remove the the ECU and send it to them and then they re-program it. Not sure exactly what they do but there is a performance enhancement once you re-install it. hope that helps

Is your chip from the company called powerchip? I ask because I have noticed people on this forum using the term powerchip interchangably with chipped or with any ECU upgrade. Anyway, could you provide a link? Like the OP, I am familiar with all of the VW chip tuners, and only three Benz tuners. Thanks.

Considering gas prices, people who have a reflash, chip, etc, is there a loss in milage? I love performance but realistically the c300 is not a race car so I would want to keep my gas milage in check.

Not to rat on your parade, but the R32 isn't all that fast of a car, expecially on a roll. But either way you still have a 300, so that is good. Not ratting on the 300, I was impressed by it when I test drove it.

This was taken after I got my SI ECU tune done. I can say that I haven't seen any noticeable decrease in fuel economy.

Maybe a dumb question... Once you "powerchip" your car, can it ever be un-powerchipped?

i.e. - leased vehicle

speed

I went 136 in my 300, no chip nothing, I had a gps with me that had the speed too, and both said 136. I wonder if that chip can get you faster? Its not like you need it I was on a fl turnpike and I got there and got nervous and slowed down... how do you explain going that fast to a cop..? I would like faster quarter mile speeds that would be hot.

R32s don't suck. Also, it takes very little to make them M3 killers.

I know the OP was talking about straight line, but I'd be reluctant to race a stock R32 in a C300 or C350 on any type of winding road.

As far as gas mileage goes, I have always experienced an improvement when I have chipped my cars.

Anyway, I wanna see some video.

Never said that. Just said that they aren't all that fast especially from a roll in a straight line. They have the advantage of the 4wd off the line, but anything other than that they aren't all that impressive straight line.

Yes I know and have heard they are very good performing track cars, but as for straight line drivers, not too impressed. I had a 2.0L Golf supercharged that would hand with it on a roll, and I was only putting 175 to the wheels.

I like 'em. Anyway, I had a turbo charged 2.0. That thing was a scream. My brother had an APR stage III 1.8 t GTI w/ around 300hp. Ahhh the VW aftermarket is a wonderful thing. I hope we get some good stuff for our Cs.
I must have missed it...where is the powerchip from? I searched the web and can't find anything for W204.

Check these out for kicks...
