I walked into the dealership and "ordered" the c300 in late nov 07 when we picked up our 08 ml350.
Not sure when it got "processed" but they are telling me a build date of April
and delivery late April / May.
I am not sure how "normal" this time period is but I wish I had it now!
mine was a white, c300 sport, command NAV.

I think the actual build process at the plant takes about 5 days, start to finish, ready to be port.
If you order a car now, you are probably looking at late april/ early May delivery. Its normal.

Ours was a seven-day period from production start date to completion date (Feb 15-22). Car is still on the water en route Baltimore, having been stuck in port in Southampton, UK, waiting out this storm:

4-5 days of actual build time. once it's at port, it can be as long as 2 weeks before it is assigned a vessel.
once on the boat, about 4-5 weeks depending on if its a german build or a south african build...and also depending on the final destination.
mine was built on 1/15 in SA
put on a boat on 2/5
the boat hit the east coast on 3/10
my sales agent said to expect delivery to the dealership (west coast) on 3/30.

thanks for the response guys! i ordered mine in mid january but the build date was scheduled for march/01. since i live in canada i was told that all MB dealers are owned by mercedes canada not quite sure if that is true. but if it is maybe this will help with getting the car sooner. do you guys think that it is unreasonable for the car to arrive early april??

My guess would be that you will see your car late April. But that is only a guess. Our C300 Sport 4matic was built 2/15-2/22. At this point it is on the water with an ETA Baltimore of 3/21. So basically one month after completing build. Then there is trucking time, etc.

well i hope you are right. when i first ordered the car they told me 2-3 months with no build date at that time. this was back in mid january. in late feb i called my dealer to ask about a build date and at that time he said march01. i would figure with customs and shipping that it would be at least a 5 week turnover.
