Just a little project
I know there is a "audio/electronics" section of this forum but I don't like how its not broken down by model. A while back, I went to have my MB Quart Q series components installed and the shop advised me against it. They showed me the drivers in the doors and agreed they were decent (good bass response). They told me I should upgrade the highs and they wanted to cut my A pillars and flush mount. I couldn't stand the thought of that so here I go.
I made some pods and fiberglassed them. I also ordered a set of tweets from Mercedes so I could get the connectors and the capacitor of the back of the stock tweeter. I have to pick up the tweets today.

wow, no need to be rude. Not every posts here has to be about Q&A. He is merely showing us his progess on this "little project" (as his title has suggested)
There is something call sharing you know....

Guess I did come off as rude. For some reason I just did not understand where he was going with the post. My bad.

Got them in today and OMG! What a difference. I did a comparison (drivers vs passenger) and couldn't believe it. I can't believe MB would use a polycarbonate dome tweeter (these things are so cheap they were even inexpensive from the dealership-$60 pair).

Do you use external Amplification?? I think MB did a good job processing the sound (staging is really good) with the HK package but the driver itself sounds a bit 'cheap'.

I have the standard audio system (no mm). The tweeters were one the weakest parts in the system. Instead of flush-mounting and leaving unsightly grills showing- I replaced the stock polycarbonate tweeters with the tweets from my MB Quart Premium set. I removed the factory connectors, capacitor, and casing around the tweeter to install mine in the exact stock location. I was going to use my Q-series but the tweeter was too big to fit without cutting the molded foam behind the a-pillar. I had planned on replacing ALL of the components with MB Quart but my installer said not to unless I planned on installing my amps. I just wanted a little more- not to go crazy with another major install.

It looks stock. I thought about adding the MB Quart logos from the grills that came with them, but I didn't know if that was to much. What do you think?
