C300 Smells
Anyone notice in hot weather the MBtx smells from the car sitting in the sun. Does this wear off as time goes on. It stinks.

2007 W204 220CDI Classic Sedan
When my new W204 220CDI engine is at operating temperature there is a strong distinctive sour odour from the radiator grill area.It is not an oil , hot metal or paint smell . I called into the local MB workshop & the manager said that is was hot rubber from the serpentine belt & hoses & quite normal. When home & parked in the garage , the smell pervades the house!! We call it the MB body oudour!.

Ok
I will clarify with more detail. Oh, and I shower 3 times a day, I'm a clean freak. Any who. When I get in the car after it has been sitting in the sun, the interior has a weird order, and I know it's the heat activating it. My C32 Leather never stunk. I notice it is fading, Glue could be a cause. Just was wondering if others exsperienced the stench.

smells like what?
i've had my c350 since january, i never smell anything weird on , in , or around the car, sorry!!

I also have noticed that since it's getting warmer here and we're finally getting some warm sun.
I've been using Zaino Z-10 Leather in a Bottle and it all but makes the smell go away.

At least the MBTex wears well.
Read your manual. It states to have an ENT remove your sense of smell.

My MBTex still smells after 3 years when it is raining or very humid and the car has been parked. But it doesn't really smell bad and goes away after having the car and A/C on or windows open for a minute or two.

My 05 with MBtex / leather inserts has a certain smell to it, but myself and everyone else who has ever noticed it agrees that it smells like a new car, a good smell, not a bad one.

German cars have been doing this for the last fifty years. It is the vinyl and glues outgassing when the interior warms up. That is also why the windows get fogged up inside in warm weather.
Yes, over time it diminishes.
