I always put in 25 dollars worth, regardless the gas prices. Keeps the car lighter for some better fuel economy. At most I will fill the car w/ 30 dollars.

I don't have a C class, but I'll tell you guys anyways.
I used to fill up all the way every time I filled up, the most I've put in was about 16-17 gallons. Now I only spend 20-30 bucks depending on where I have to go just like jherbias. 20 bucks gives me 5 gallons which is around 100 miles for my car.

If you are interested in differences in gas prices, it is better to just ask folks what they are paying per gallon/liter--not what it costs to fill up. In our small, mountain town, premium is now $3.39/gallon.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
This seems like a moving target, since gas goes up every few days around here.
With all respect to you W204 owners, I am very glad to have my W203 with the 4 cylinder engine. It is no cheaper to fill, but it drinks a bit more slowly.

I pay on average $3.85 per gallon (East SF Bay), and spend around 60~65 dollars for a complete fill-up. I always go until the orange "empty" light comes on and then do a complete fill-up. But I like jherbias's idea. Kind of a racer mentality -- I've heard of races (of all kinds) run on only quarter-tanks to save weight. The only problem is, I'll fill up little at a time now, and then run out of gas somewhere remote.

I would never put in a full tank of gas. That is well over 100 lbs of ballast right there. A quick search on the internet saw gasoline density from 6-8 lbs/gal. I even told my coworker to fill up halfway and he said he noticed about 1-2 mpg improvement w/ a halfway fill up. That's pretty good considering cars nowadays are at least 3000 lbs.
Road trips are different since you'll be on the highway most of them. Not much acceleration is necessary (unless you feel the need to go 150 mph)

It might be a good idea to not fill up all the way, but it is so much more convenient. If only half, I'd have to fill up twice a week, and those chaotic gas stations are bad enough once a week.

C350 4MATIC Premium Package Obsidian Black
wow looks like this car is going to cost me more than i thought. the price of gas here in vancouver is roughly 1.24 per litre and that is regular if you want to get 91 octane your probably looking at 1.34. i am assuming the tank is roughly 65 litres. this would mean an average cost of over 80 CAD. thats alot to spend considering my commute is 60km a day. i think that i should have bought a train pass instead

Cdn$ has been floating between US$0.98 and US$1.08, so you can consider our dollar to be at par. However what I don't understand is since you all just received free money in the form of an economic stimulus payment from George Bush, and low rate mortgages have been available to anyone who can sign an "X", the US economy must be floating in cash - so why all the complaining about gas prices???
