dont take this wrong way but...NO!
i know that there is functionality here and you are using the rack for your bikes but it makes the car look like crap. we are not VW people. just my opinion.

It is really for functional reasons, the rack & carriers come off when not in use. they are not permanant at all & are actually so well designed compared to my Thule BMW rack that taking them on & off is soo easy!!

ya, very convenient. I took the C350 to the mountains for snowboarding last season too. had the showboards up on the rack. Boots & gear in the trunk. (I have the MB hard plastic trunk liner & its great too!)

Rack
<<we are not VW people. just my opinion.>>
It is Volvo people that we are not.
There must be a Mercedes bike rack that looks better than this.
Wait, there is. There are pictures of it in the German W204 accessory book. But, it's likely more costly. It is an extendable platform that sits behind the back bumper. Even has it's own taillights. Holds two bikes.

VOLVO PEOPLE?
<<Um, what exactly do you mean by "Volvo people"? As one who has owned Volvos since '89, I'm not sure how to take this! And you should know, Volvo is well known as Seattle's Car! (That and the Accord!)>>
Decades ago, the expected traffic impediment was a little old man in a hat driving a Rambler. Then when they became extinct, that title was assumed by Peugeot diesel wagons. Now, and I see this all the time, when there is a car poking along at the front of a long line of traffic, it's likely to be a Volvo wagon.
And Seattle's car is definitely a Subaru. They are everywhere.
Prius is becoming number two. No, not THAT number two. Well, maybe.

It's ugly and I'd never do it. I have another car (still quite serviceable) for those kinds of trips. And I can totally see myself loading up the rack, forgetting about its presence, and running into a garage. I'm just that kinda idiot.
But I firmly believe that beauty lies in function, so power to you, brother.
And hey, I like those Volvo wagons... always been a fan of the XC70 Cross Country. Looks nice, kinda aggressive (I might be stretching it a bit here ), and VERY functional. I remember in the 90s those Volvos had the 7-spoke magnesium alloys that I liked. And so far, I haven't seen any wheel that I like better than the AMG 18"s.

Delirium - your rack with bikes looks much better than my rack will look like with two kayaks on top of my C300!!! I am not looking forward to it but I am not fortunate enough to have two vehicles. So, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Guess I will look for a guy with an SUV!
