Erratic Intermittent Wipers.
The rain sensing intermittent wipers on my 2008 C Class will sometimes let rain invade the windshield without wiping for many seconds, and at other times will start wiping furiously (and at high speed) for many seconds when there's just a drop of rain on the windshield.
Have others experienced this?
Can it be fixed by dealer?

happens to me all the time, not perfected technology i guess.
i already told my dealer that the wipers seem loose but they say its normal and cant find any problems.
but ya i just "push" in to give it a manual wipe when it doesnt do its thing

I turn the auto wipers off for 5 secs then back on and then they start acting normal again. It happens rarely for me tho (the erratic behavior) but it still happens.

Common problem..or should I say normal function of the auto wipers on Benz's. On all the Benz's I've owned they have all done the same thing, I now find it funny when it starts to sprinkle and they kick on in high mode like I'm going through a waterfall.

No, it's not just Benz. I had the exact same experience on a Volkswagen Passat and Peugeot before. It's just the way the rain drops hit the sensor.
I actually hate this 'technology'. Unfortunately you can't turn it off and have manual intermitent selection.

Last year, I drove a Seat Altea XL (made by VW-Audi) in Europe, and the system worked perfectly.
