Actually, it said two pairs cost 35 Euros -- approx. US $50, plus shipping.
(Unless I read it wrong...) Any other opinions on this one? It looks like a good alternative.

fwiw, I found this on another forum...

They look like a possible way to go... Approx. US $50 plus shipping, if I read it correctly.

i help my cousin replace all but 4 of the 194 bulbs on his car to LED. the 4 are the eyebrow, but we might try the ebay SMD's, which work for the w203 city lights without error messages. we replaced all of the interior bulbs for less than 40$, and the only ones that do occasionally flicker are the footwell lights for passenger and drivers.

btw, I plan to go to the Super Autobacs (car parts / mod shop) here in town soon to look at their LED bulb selection. Will report back when I'm done.

bump - I'm totally interested in replacing bulbs w/LED's ASAP, but not down with $75+ bulbs - that's insane! LED's cost a nickel/ea at the local electronics store, and the boards, resistors, etc., cost roughly the same. Why would I drop that kinda cash for something <$1???

I sold my mkIV golf not long ago and wish I had that site! I had to piece together a set of LED replacement bulbs from eBay and a range of other online retailers, but none come even close to looking like a complete set like these guys seem to offer.
My concern with buying/trying with the C300 is 1) not sure what size bulbs it takes where 2) the power consumption that each of those LED's can handle (ie. will it throw an error code)
At that price it MAY be worth trying... adding to xmas list juuust in case...

I can imagine he'd be anxious to get the business from here - esp considering how much cheaper his options are than the Taiwanese versions everyone's mentioned to date. Either way, count me in!

Is it just me or is the 'magic box' nothing more than a resistor that ups the current draw on the line up to 5W?
Now excuse my simple engineering math (I took computer engineering in univeristy but I work in finance now) but from what I remember a diode causes a 0.7V drop across it's terminals. Now assuming the line coming in is 12V (minus the 0.7V drop across the diode) one would need a simple 25ohm resistor in series to generate a 5W load on the circuit. Perhaps throw in a capacitor in line to normalize the load.
Correct me if my simple circuitry is wrong anybody.
If I'm even close to right, just like stated above, a magic box, with a decent build, should cost you around $1 to $2 MAX MAX MAX.
