Instal the Sprintbooster W204

Ok guys, today received my Sprintbooster

I have automatic Transmission so it is the: BDD 452 A

It's so simple, 10 minutes work:

Here we go....

This is the Sprintbooster:

First unscrew the two Nuts (looks like plastic nuts) near the red dots

Now you can take of your accelerator, remove the cable that's connected:

Fit the Sprintbooster in your accelerator:

Fit the cable that came out of your accelerator on the Sprintbooster.

PUSH THE CABLE GOOD ON THE SB, the first time they didn't connect good so your car don't react if you push the accelerator.

Turn on your engine and check if your accelerator works.

If it works, turn off your engine, put you accelerator back in the position and screw the nuts back till your accelerator is well fixed.

If it doesn't works, then the cable or the SB isn't good connected.

Hope you have something on this information.

Everything you do is on your own risk.

Just tested the Sprintbooster, and it's amazing that just that little thing can do this...... i can really advise every one to get this gadget.

The accelerator reacts much faster.... i can now drive in C instead of S

It was just a little test so i cant say much more right now... but my firts impression is WOW .........

So the car feels faster but it isn't actually faster? lol I still don't see the justification in spending 300 bucks for something that doesn't increase hp or tq.

Don't know if it had increased hp or tq, when i it the gas a little it reacts directly, before the Sprintbooster there was a little delay in the throttle respons.

For me its the 239,00 Euro worth, but you have to drive with a car with the SB to give a good opinion about it.

For me it was also a new thing, but if you don't try, you don't know.
So i took the risk.....

And im pleased that i take that risk.

And believe me, if i didn't liked it i wouldn't be so positive.

I took delivery of my W208 C300 4matic in May and I found the acceleration so poor.

Prior to this car I drove a V6 Accord EX and the acceleration on the Accord was way more responsive then the Benz. Anytime people would ask me about my new Benz I would say "Oh I like it, always wanted one, but it is so slow on the acceleration"

I searched the forums and read about the sprintbooster, the chats I read started back in 2006 and the feedback about the device had been good. So I ordered one (via EBAY) and installed it a few days ago.

The device is small and well designed, cost to make can't be that much (they must make HUGE profits) but the $300 is well invested:
  • The car response is much better
  • Barely any lagtime when accelerating from a stop sign
  • Driving uphill from a slow start way better
  • Bottomline is that accelerator response has improved in a big way

Really makes me wonder why car manufacturers even put out cars that have such slow response.

The device is designed nice but mine didnt fit 100%, there is a small pin that supposed to clip to the original harness (see PDF) and I tried to push it in all the way but it wont fit. I could have forced it by just tighting the bolts to the gas pedal but decided to cut the carpet to remove the pressure on the connecting piece.

in a sense it does make your car faster...if you get a better response from it, it would b faster than a benz without it, correct me if i'm wrong fellas.

No warranty issues, since very easy to plug and unplug. It just goes inline with the accelerator cable. It does not add peak power, but does take the initial lag away.

Anyone with a manual w204 try this mod out yet?

Seems like this mod is geared more towards auto trannies... but if anyone with a manual tranny has had experience with this mod could let me know if it's worthwhile or not i'd appreciate it.

No, that is not the same effect, because there's still a lag than.... with the SB you dont have that.

it doesn't really apply to the manuals as the only tranny lag is from your foot to the clutch. I had to drop my C off for a bad gas gauge last week and they gave me a c300 4matic as a loaner. i really don't want to offend anyone here but man, that thing is like driving a 95 ford astrovan. it has ok acceleration but its got to be between 3500 and 4200 rpms in the power band and even then its so gradual and smooth. NO tq. YES, it was in sport mode. i had the loaner for 2 days and never once even bothered with comfort mode. bottom line, the SB is ideal for the lag on our drive by wire systems but i'm telling you guys, the difference between the manuals and auto's are night and day...doesn't even feel like the same car.

The 4matics are heavier with the addition of the AWD system too. That coulda been a contributor to the slow speed.

Sprint Booster... sounds very good. I kind of want to get it. But I think it's a bit pricey for something that doesn't increase actual HP and TQ. I much rather spend extra couple hundred to get an ECU chip that will increase 15 to 20 HP.
If it's around $200, then I will maybe think about it.

Japanese cars are geared much lower to give the simulation of that acceleration off the line. For the non-savvy driver this sensation of seat of the pants acceleration is the grail. You can keep your accord, put that accord on the parkway at 65mph and try to accelerate; it will fall on its face. I’ll take my Benze any day. You just have to step on the gas if you really mean it. It will accelerate. This mod’s not for me….

like many of you had guessed.

sprint booster does not increase HP or TQ. It alters the throttle position signal sent to the ECU telling it to open the throttle more than the actual throttle pedal is pressed. It is a remedy for those that complains about the MB famous throttle lag, but not a cure.

Although many people have used it and swear by it from various forum 203/208/209/211 etc etc I still wouldn't trust my life with it especially having talked to someone that knows how much these thing cost. The main reason the throttle lags is because not everyone drives spiritly everyday and with the transmission/throttle response being adaptive they learn how each one drives their cars and when you are a laid back person behind the wheel the throttle response will also be laid back.

all this can be solved with a simple 20 second throttle position memory reset tho and it's free. I do it every other week on my 32 and haven't had the need to do it on the 350 yet.

You can do the Throttle reset, but you still have the lag... and if you reset the throttle it takes 500km to re-learn your transmission.

But believe me, if you don't have the sprintbooster you don't feel it. Just when you are used to have a sprintbooster, you cant drive without it.

If you guys live in the same area, buy one with a couple of persons, if you dont like it you lose some, but i know for sure if you have 10 people who try it, 9 will buy the sprintbooster.
