Area under the trunk floor
Hey all - I was poking around looking at all of the nooks and hiding places in my car and noticed a large area under the trunk floor... There appears to be a good space for maybe velcro'ing down a plastic storage box to the right of the spare tire, among other things... when I had an idea:
Why doesn't someone/some company develop a fitted compartment that covers that area and the tire to maximize the usable space under there... Maybe have partitions for storing stuff, etc. Wouldn't that be handy? anyone up for a challenge? ;-)

Unfortunately, on mine, that's where the battery is located. Don't understand why it could not be placed at the front, like the petrol engined versions.
Otherwise, I agree, that's a good storage space - may be for the manual.

I keep all sorts of stuff in the spare well. Tools, jumper cables, triangles, tire compressor, etc. (I used to drive British cars you have to be prepared). Plenty of room.

I got a nylon tool bag and put my manual and various add-on tools into it, then put that bag into the spot by the tire. Fits well, doesn't rattle, and it's handy if/when it's needed.
I started out looking for a box (battery box) to fit, but decided that the tool bag was just-as-good.

my wife had a plastic ub with lid which fit nicely in mine, I also surrounded it with a terry towel to stop any movement.

On the CLS there is a carpeted trunk liner that covers the spare tire and looks pretty slick, only problem is I feel it would be a pain in the a$$ to remove if you needed to get to the spare. Other models might have this as well, I just happened to be looking at the CLS this week on the show room.

Wouldn't you be worried about not having a spare or a donut to put on if you get a flat?
