You will have to check with all laws and regulations, theres a thread here for buying a car in the United States and importing it to Canada. I can't remember the exact cost but something like $2k to $5k to update all the parts to conform with Canadian standards sounds familiar. There could be the same sort of process for importing a vehicle from Canada to the United States.

Yeah, even if doable, you may (read certainly) find it a regulatory nightmare. And you could wind up paying sales tax on both sides of the border. I've imported/exported valuable items both ways and you can't imagine the customs/gov. hands that pop up looking for cash.

Probably cheaper to buy an E or C63 in the States, in the end.

I hope you would only have half the trouble, importing to the US from Canada, as compared to what I had to go through to import my used 2001 CL500 from the US to Canada. If you do, make certain the new car warranty is honored in the US.

Canadian cars don't meet US regs. Maybe more options, but you'd have to spend a hefty penny doing conversions, including bumpers.

You will have to pay significant taxes/duty, and you are required to make any necessary safety/emissions/instrumentation modifications to meet U.S. standards. You may not get your warranty honored in the U.S.

Canadian bumpers have a beam that meets the 8km/h federal law whereas same was repealed in US in the 90's, so Canadian bumpers are stronger than US. But you have to change the instrument from km/h to mph.

Warranty is honored both ways. If importing from the US it will be honored in Canada and vice versa. I was thinking of importing from the US before but it was just too much of a hassel.

not 100%
for example , USA MB only has a 2 yrs warrenty on battery , Canadian 4yrs
even if you convert your US car to Canadian standard , the warrenty still fall within the USa criteria but can be claim in CAnada

I live in Boston and have a home in Montreal. I have been told by Silver Star that the cars exported to US must be used. Friends did it a few years ago when US dollar was stronger. It makes no sense today because the Canadian cars are about 25% more expensive.

Friends' preowned E was converted and US certified as part of the sale.
