C300 Panoramic Roof Questions / Opinions
Hey Guys, Brand new to this forum, just recently purchased a C300 Sport, Artic White, Package 1, M/M, and also got the panoramic roof. I should be getting the vehicle within the next couple of days but am having my doubts about my purchase. I guess I really didnt do my research before choosing the roof option and decided to go with the panoramic because it seemed like it would be a good idea. I was just trying to get some peoples opinion whom have this option whether or not they like it. Also is there a shade you can pull over it or is the sun just going to constantly be beating down on us? Would love to hear peoples opionions so I can decide if i made a good choice. Thanks!

there is a shade...
a couple of things, however. the shade/screen doesn't block out all the light. its best described as a mesh material. i personally like it, but some might not.
also, you cannot use the tilt function without having the shade/screen completely open. hope this makes sense
i have the pano on arctic white...i love it - have no regrets whatsoever.

Our car is equipped with panoramic roof and I love it! It makes the interior brighter and roomier.

I love my panorama roof!
It looks really great on lighter colored cars as it creates a really clean sleek look. A while ago I had my roof painted black on my silver Passat to disguise the sunroof and to tie the windshield to the back glass so that it looks like one sweeping piece of glass.
From the driver's seat it feels like a normal sunroof (maybe a little wider), only from the back seat you really appreciate the view. I think it looks the best with the black interiors as the shade matches the black headliner.
The shade does block a lot light eventhough it is a mesh material. You do see just tiny bit of sun but it does a lot to block the heat and light.

I was stuck with my Pano, and I'm sorry to say, but I don't care too much about it. It was the last car on the lot that's Iridium with a P2 package, and I couldn't wait till the next shipment. It's good to have the pano, but I personally can live w/ out.

I had the pano in a loaner vehicle and it seemed nice and airy, but the novelty wore off by the end of the day for me. It sure does look hot on a light/white car though! When it came down to options, I figured that between not noticing the pano on a black car (my color) AND the fact it only opens up and slides over/outside of the car - I just never liked that design for sunroofs in general, there wasn't much point in getting it.

I had to order mine with pano, after seeing some light colored S classes with panos. I think it's more enjoyable sitting in the back seats with pano
I don't regret it but I wouldn't really mind if I got a black car.

The pano roof is my favorite option of all. It is a must-have, and you won't regret your decision. It looks great from the inside AND outside.
The interior of the car with pano gets a little hotter than that without, I presume, but if so, not by much. I can't really tell the difference in interior temperature between my new car and my old car w/o a sunroof (which I still have to compare).
The retractable mesh shade does let a little light through, but not much. It's pretty effective, actually. With it closed, I forget that I even have a sun roof, but with the shade drawn, much light shines through. The roof also affords a beautiful view up at the sky. Or so I've heard--I never look up out the roof while driving But the passengers love it. Especially those seated in the rear.
Another benefit (though I didn't even think about this before the purchase) is that because the pano roof is all glass, you have that much less paint to take care of. The whole roof section! That's huge!
I notice that you've ordered an Arctic White, as I have. Excellent choice, as the pano roof provides a great contrast to the light color of the vehicle. In fact, pretty much one of the biggest reasons I bought this car is this single picture of an Arctic White w/ Pano that I saw online. That sealed the deal instantly.
When it's all said and done, it's too late to change anything, so there's no point in worrying about it... but you'll love it. Almost a guarantee.

In several car mag reviews, I have read that the pano roof robs some head room. When I test-drove a W204 with the pano roof last year, I indeed had the impression of reduced head space.
I am in Europe right now, and just had a chance to sit in a W204 with manual seats and no sunroof -- indeed, much more space than in US-spec cars.
I am 6'1" (1.86m) tall. YMMV, but it may be a good idea to check by means of the dealer's stock before ordering.

This car makes me feel super tall. Previously, I just assumed that it was my seat setting. I'm somewhere around 5' 10" and my head is shaved.

It's your "sitting height" not your actual height. In fact, one modification to the BMI (body mass index) is to use sitting height because torso length is more important than leg length for that purpose.
I'm 5' 9" but constantly rub my head on car ceilings. In fact, it's worn away all semblance of hair up there. I appreciate the sunroof since it gives me a place to poke my poor bald head out!

actually, I've noticed that if I just keep the shade thing open on the pano, I get more headroom. The glass is tinted anyways so no real reason to close it for me.

yikes! thats good to know. I rented a c220 in germany last summer and absolutely fell in love with the car...especially all the room I had! I am 6'6" and felt like I had all kinds of room in there....but mine was a manual seat (couldnt believe how far back it went!!) and had no moonroof. I was eyeing a c-class here in the states with a panorama roof or at the very least a moonroof...sounds like I had better double check my legroom/headroom...i knew this was too good to be true

One thing, though, is that I do sit pretty up close and personal with the steering wheel. I stopped trying to look cool while driving back in high school, after a few... ehem... incidents. I'm not one to lean super far back and drive "gangster" style. That may contribute a bit to my lacking headroom. My friends always comment that I drive so "adult-like." And I say, "WTF you think we are?"
