DIY: Head unit removal/ rca pac install
Like all diy you are doing this on your own. MBworld.org or myself will not be responsible for any damages done to your car

So lets get started
Tools:
- thin flat tip screwdriver
- torx 20 screwdriver
- soft micro fiber towel

Steps

Stick flat tip screwdriver on either side vent but watch out for the glue in the middle of the whole vent so take your time and slowly remove the vents

Once you pull out the vents you will see 2 blue plugs

You should have this when you remove the plugs

Now remove 2 torx 20 screws

Once the screws have been removed there are 2 clips
Now you can start pulling out the head unit but use your micro fiber towel to prevent any scratches cause of the head unit

I didn't include any pictures for those who wants to install a rca pac for their amps
but you can tap the speaker wires to hook up your rca pac
white/brown and brown/pink are for the rear
Just some samples of how hard my subs hit

I have a couple questions, if you don't mind:
1) After putting it back together, do you see any scratches on anything or anything? The prying of the A/C vents, did it put any nicks or anything? Just hoping if I'm very careful it will stay pretty much perfect?
2) Do you have any idea where I'd wire the cable for the ipod kit? I'll figure out how to plug it in, but any idea how you route the cable over to the glovebox behind everything (unless I could find a way to follow the aux cable over there)?

For the iPod kit I have to see the harness for it but I rather just use an aux cable from the glove box
but iono it might be just me since I need my iPhone in my cup holder in order to get callsAs for the glue in the middle just press down the cover on top of it and it will stay
Just another teaser

Do you think it's possible?

I see subwoofers and amps in my near future

I usually use a 1 1/2" plastic putty knife to pry panels like that. If you plan on doing alot of projects like this- you can purchase a panel removal kit, The tools are usually made out of hard resin type material which does less damage than metal.

My audio tuner told me the C300 radios cannot be swapped out easily because the wiring is fiber optic. If i replace the audio20 head unit they have to provide their own wiring from scratch which equals another 1000.00 in labor. Is this true?
I have the same basic head unit in my 2008 C230 as the thread starter. Just a CD player with hands free phone and nothing more.
I'd like to upgrade the head unit to the slightly later model that had the slot for a data disc to play MP3's (no screen on th unit, just data disc slot).
My 1/8" aux connection in the glove box sounds like **** so I figure upgrading to a head unit pulled from a wreck may be cheaper than dealing with my ipod connectivity woes. I am unsure if the connections out back of the two units will be compatible. I am assuming and hoping that my connections will just plug right in.

You MAY need some programming to make this work Colin!
Hopefully one of the Audio guys can chime in here for you...
