Must-Have for Emergencies: Quick Detailing Spray
It is my belief that everyone MUST have a quick detailer spray bottle and a few clean microfiber towels in the trunk (the boot) at all times, as I do. This combination has saved me and my car in so many situations.
The most recent "problem" was an idiot who thought it would be funny to throw an egg at my car while I was at a bar with a friend. My car is white, and I didn't notice the act of vandalism until next morning, when I almost fainted to find that the egg whites (yolk had slipped off) had solidified into a thick frothy mass on the paint. Lodged within the said mass were pieces of egg shells. I was afraid to pull off the shells in case the mess had reacted and bonded with the paint somehow.
In any case, I pulled out my trusty spray (I'm by now a firm believer), sprayed copious amounts of the stuff all over the affected area. Immediately, the spray began reacting with the egg whites and shells, and the stuff began sliding down the side of my car. It was AMAZING! I sprayed some more, and after about 20 seconds, it was ready to be gently wiped off. Even the shells had somehow "melted" into a mush, and was easily and gently picked off by hand. Who knows what chemical magic is contained within, but whatever it is, it works.
For reference, I use the Meguiar's Quick Detailer Mist and Wipe, 32 fl. oz bottle (912 ml for our metric brethren). I bought it on sale at a local auto parts shop for $6.50 USD with a coupon. The stuff works great on just about anything, from bird poop to egg shells to tree sap. Of course, the sooner you apply it, the better. Try it out!
seriously though, great stuff for bird crap, puddles, etc. i use the one from griots garage, but meguiars is the best.
on a related topic my car is filthy and looks like
I use that one sometimes, but I usually use the approx $10 Ultimate Spray Detailer from Meguiar's also. It looks great.
I haven't washed the car in a few months cause I use this stuff every couple days.

....best stuff around, let me know if you have any questions!
I used to use only German products, and then I discovered that other products are good too, so I use a few different things now.
Also, the Ultimate Quick Detailer is only what I use to clean the car off and make it look good again when dust and whatnot is on it.
I use polishes, cleaners, waxes, etc., when it's time to do a full work up.

I'm rethinking the whole concept of quick detailing as a method of cleaning between weekly car washes.
What do you guys think?

1) I do almost "drown" the area I'm about to wipe. Obviously, the more of this to act as lubricant, less likely to scratch.
2) I use several towels during the process and turn regularly, so if a scratch somehow started to be made, you'd turn before too long, and limit the damage hopefully.
I don't know. I just try to be careful, hope for the best, and after 6 months it looks ok still.
Knock on wood.
