This is what my map lights looks likes. Any idea how to remove those covers? I tried turning them which i was able to do from L to R position but then not able to pop them out. Tried pushing in as well as pulling them out.

Afraid of breaking the glass or worst damaging the unit.

i would assume R and L are 'release' and 'lock' maybe?? i would twist and then try to pop them out using the notch. being that small i would think you could give it to them pretty good without them breaking. again, i'd use a small pick if you have one to try and get behind those notches.

keep us posted

Yeah I thats what I figured about the R and L but man I was hoping the cover would just fall down when its on R. Its not even budging...guess i'll try the pick and see what happens.

Cant do it...looks like the covers edge extends beyond the hole on the rearview mirror. No idea how this is suppose to be removed.

humm sounds risky. I can easily see myself breaking the mirror or scratching it while trying to take it off. Probably not worth the effort unless someone knows a way to get to it from the bottom. You would think it should be possible since the cover has notches to turn it in for some reason....

Yeah, you have to take apart the mirror to gain access. First gen w204 (rectangular shape) had had an easy exterior clip that popped open to remove.

Sorry if I left out any steps or pictures but this diy isn't as great as my others
This DIY was awesome! by any chance would you happen to know how to replace the lights in the rear view mirror?? I have the 2010 C without homelink, I'm guessing I have to take apart the mirror? Idk, how would I do this?

if you have an interior panel tool set (the 'plastic' blades in different shapes/sizes) you can "pop" the glass off if you work your way around. sounds more daunting than it really is. i recommend the trim tools because its easier to not damage/scratch the mirror/housing.

Haha go slow, find the 'clips'. Once you get it started it will make a million times more sense!
