So after I think about the 6 months I waited for my car, I feel somewhat better that I wasnt alone. Love the demand!

2008 R350 & 2008 C300
I read that article too and had to laugh out loud. I've said it before, but my dealership has a surplus of cars and a few they can't get rid of. I will say when the w204 first came out they were hard to get, but I was at my dealership around May and they had over 20 cars on the lot. Now they have 12 C300 and 9 C350 2008 models they are trying to move before the 09's roll in. Everyone wants whats new and improved and after the newness wears off so does the demand. And as far as the resale goes, people on this board haven't had much luck with that, some getting quotes $12k less than what they paid.

Ha ha I'm just miffed that I had to order my car because there was such a demand, got about $2500 off and some extra throw ins. But if I could have waited I could have gotten a car now for about $5k off, no waiting and maybe a better build.

We're all sold out up here in Canada. (Or at least in the Vancouver area, its hard as hell to get one)

Hard to get? GT3RS, Scuderia, perhaps M3, those are hard to get.

Medium to get maybe the 997TT.

Otherwise everything is available. Lambo dealers have a bundle of cars. Aston, Bentley all available readily.

Every MB dealer I have been to carry at least 8 new "C's" but even the S63 is not hard to get at this very moment. All MB dealers I went to had a good selection fo 63's and even some 65's readily available CL's, S's, CLS's. I noted few ML's in the 500 and 63 guises on the lots but it could have been me not counting right. This was in Houston BTW.

Certainly the "C" is not a hard to get at this moment

Thats because times have changed and there are now WAAY too many gradations of models.

Remember the good 'ol days of "Do you want a C230, C240 or C320?" And the 240 or 320 came with 4matic as an option?

Well now its C300 sport, C300 sport 4matic, C300 luxury (rare btw), C300 luxury 4matic (rarer yet), C350 sport and then you start talking P1, P2, Multimedia, yadda yadda...

In my opinion, the split of sport vs luxury has created a lot more difficulty in finding models as the dealerships seem to be stocking much more variety in hopes that someone will want them. Your thoughts?

29 days in the lot is certainly not considered hard to get IMHO. The avg days of 60 is high now because you have all these extra inventory of trucks and SUVs sitting around. Just walk into a JEEP dealership and you will know what that means. This is not to mention overall auto sales are down, this include Toyota (yes, toyota the prius maker) The only automaker reported a 1.6% growth was honda.

It's hard getting one here in Vancouver, BC. Unlike the US, we have 13 base versions - 2.5L, 3.0L, & 3.5L - lux or sports - RWD or 4Matic (you can choice any combination) plus the AMG. Also, the 4 showrooms here are all owned by Mercedes Canada. When I order mine early last Summer, there were already 250+ pre-solds on their books. Even if they stock them, they will most likely be C230s since they are by far more popular here. Also, most Mercs here are silver with a few black or white. As far as I know, I have the only '08 red C.

When I stopped in at the dealer a month or so ago, they said they were still selling the C's as fast as they could get them in, which didn't sound very fast...

He said they had 3 C63's come in and each one sold sight unseen before they even arrived.

True, to find the perfect match for yourself, it will be hard to find. That goes same to every car maker. Thus you order it to your taste and wait. In Korea there is some shortage, they get sold as soon as they arrive. also the CL63 and similar MBs do get sold quite quickly.

Hell, even Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys get sold quite quickly. this country is going crazy

From the article point of view they are saying that the car in general is hard to find, not a specific configuration. To that point any car that you want certain options on is going to require you to order it and I assume the writer of this article is smart enough not to include special ordered cars in their hard to get category. The C63 is a limited production car and shouldn't be included in the figures either and the comment about them being sold sight unseen goes along with that...and the fact that its whats "new and improved" at the moment. Give it a few months and they will be stocking them up on the lots just like the rest of the AMG lineup (exception to be made for the G55 and the limited run Black Series).

It is pretty cool to see what models are selling in certain parts of the world. In my neck of the woods its easy to find 4matic cars in either Sport or Luxo trim, but its rare but not impossible to find a Rwd C300 or a Six Speed C300.

Location of the store must be a factor, maybe Benz doesnt do so great in your State or City? Ya like others have said, in Vancouver 0 08 C350's,
0 08 300's and very few 08 230's. The C63's are sold out till Feb 09!!

As for resale value, ask your self if you bought a C class used and had to pay higher interest, get less warrenty and less road side, plus have wear and tear on a used one how much would you pay for it? Cus if the price was close to a new one, I would say hell no and go get a new one. Plus rememer 12 less on trade means they still have to have room to make a profit plus still sell it at a salable price.

R Classes are not exactly flying off the shelf either. Local dealers are turning them into courtesy vans.
