Extended Warranty
Have most of the people purchased MB's extended warrantry or did they go out and find 3rd party for less? I was quoted 3500 for the 36 month from the MB dealer. I have found some other warranty from 2200-3000 for 3rd party co.

If you're going to do this at all, I think you should go with MBUSA.
There are horror stories out there of third party warranty companies denying some or all of a Mercedes claim because the charges involved were "excessive". These are expensive cars to repair....if you're going to buy an extended warranty, make sure they will actually pay the claims in full. Otherwise, your "savings" are illusory.

There's a time to save money and a time to spend money. This is a time to spend a bit more and go with a Benz warrenty.
Third party warrenties could charge deductables, lack of coverage, just too many loop holes.
Saving $500 is not worth it. Remember you already spent how much??
Im sure it was a fair amount so dont do somthing dumb to try to save a few buck's. Its one payment!!
Just my two cent's dont spend them all in one place

EXTENDED WARRANTY
I had GEICO on my 1996 C280 $250 deductible cost about $70.00 a year and slowly increase a fee bucks a year until the policy expires must have automobile coverage at all times. The warranty can be transferred if the vehicle is sold to another party with a GEICO auto policy. I had to use the warranty three times. A representative was sent out each time from the carrier. Two repairs were approved and the third an oil leak was considered within in specification. I never had to use the GEICO warranty on my 2000 E320. My 2003 E500 I have the MB extended warranty I used it once for an oil leak that require the replacement of a seal one or two hour job. I am considering buying the MB warranty on my next purchase delivery next month.

I guess some have had issues with their 3rd party warranty (which is why I suggested you check the warranty carefully before purchasing). That hasn't been the case at all with mine in the past...the warranty I purchased from my lender IS the MB warranty, they just bought it through a volume discount from MBUSA and passed the savings on to me. All work will be done at the MB dealer, it covers the same issues and I'll still get the loaner car and all, and it saved me about $1K.
I'm a very good customer of this credit union so maybe I got a better deal than most, but I had the same deal on my Acura a few years back and it worked the same way (I wasn't as good of a customer then). Never had an EW issue on that one and I did have some expensive problems on it.
If it were a matter of a few hundred bucks difference and the warranty wasn't the same then definately go with the one the dealer will sell you....but it makes no sense to spend more for the same warranty if you don't have to (regardless of whether you can barely afford your car or paid cash for it).

My Credit Union offers a Mechanical Breakdown Policy for $2,400. 7 years 1000 K through Mercury Insurance Company. Some of the posting that I have read indicates that Mercury fights every claim. I do not know if these were private purchases or through a groups such as a Credit Union. I would think that the policyholder could contact the Credit Union if there was a problem. The policies through the Credit Union do not require that an automobile policy be carrier with the company. If I were buying from a third party carrier I would prefer to buy from an insurance carrier rather than companies limited to extended warranties. I purchased a policy for my daughter car a while back from one on the company recommended by one of the buying services that file for bankruptcy. Then the following year sold new warranties while the old warranties were still in bankruptcy court.

REMEMBER:
-Any authorized dealer can sell you the MB extended warranty.
-It carries an MSRP and a dealer cost, just like everything else. SHOP AROUND. There is no reason in the world to pay full price for the MBUSA extended warranty. The difference between dealer cost and full retail for the warranty is dramatic.

The people in that thread seem to swear by DC. I wonder if they are really as good as they say?

Wow a price increase of 600-700 over 2 month time period.
I did an online quote with them back in April. It was for 7/100K and came out to $1780 for 100 ded and $2430 for 0 ded. I didn't pull the trigger 'cause I'm nervous like that! :-)
