A fully loaded C350 still has those blacked out buttons!
I don't like dummy buttons either, but it's not just Mercedes - Audi does it too (just to name one).
Here's an A8 with dummy buttons (on the left):

dummy buttons and metal,wood etc. instead. that is due to the new designs
of the dashboards and buttons. these days the buttons are enclosed on
one shape and it would look weird if there would be wood instead of plastic!!

Left knob is for the Dynamic handling Package, if you push it it will reacts more on the gas pedal, the suspension will be more sportive. This is also a blacked out button by the most of the EU drivers. This option cost 1500 euro's.
Than you got the button for the sunroof
Than we have the Parctronic button, to deactivate it.
So this one is US-less in the US.
And the right button is not named anywhere in the brochure...
If we order the Standard model here in the Netherlands, you don't have the buttons. Like CJH's car.
