i just made mine from an s-class. the s-class oem german plate holder has a curve for the front body of our car. just carve the edges. i lined my stock us plate holder up with the s-class one and carved away with an xacto knife and and some sand paper

My car is a lease does the Euro plate holder mount onto US screw points or do i have to drill new holes also if i go back to US plate holder will the holes be visible if i new ones need to be drilled.
Also is there a substitute that someone has tried.

I mounted mine using the 3m gray trim tape (same as used on spoilers and lips).

I bent the plate buy placing it in the bracket. I measured to center and marked it with tape. The I heated the back of the bracket with a heat gun or hair drier and gently pressed down on the corner of my work bench. I had my previous plate on for almost 2 years. This one has been on for about 3 months.

What kind of Euro license plate holders are you looking for? I live in Germany and most people just have the plastic casing to hold the long plates. Is this what you guys want?

Sorry for the stupid question. I'm not a "car guy" so I don't understand some of the fascination with certain car things in these forums. Is it just a cool thing to have euro plates on your euro car?

Originally I was looking for the OEM plate bracket that is molded to the contour of the front bumper. On European cars, some owners want the Euro plate. On Japanese cars- some of those owners put the appropriate plate from the country of origin. It's the matter of you want what you can't get.

If u look at the front bumper of the W204 u will see its not straight but at an angle so using a flat plate bracket will not work. The OEM Mercedes bracket is curved to except the countour of the bumper but i cant buy one in the USA. My dealer can not order me one.

Oh, I didn't know that the bumper is curved in the front. My SLK just has the normal flat plate holder, I think.

My car is on order and they said that I can pick it up in late July, early August. They told me to bring my license plates with me when I pick up the car. I wonder if my new car will have the plate holders on them. Do I need to worry about how they will mount my plates on my car?

Maybe it's me, but 3M trim tape seems to start crapping out after half a year. My roof and trunk spoiler are both held by 3M tape and the corners have been peeling like crazy.

Is there any reason to why people put a US plate over a Euro plate?

They will mount them with no problem, the only thing is, when I picked mine up, I had the HK version plates, so they both fit on the mount, but since then I changed to the long plate in the front, ur best bet is to just go to dealer and punch out the 50 euro for the front mount, if not, u will have excessive overhang, and take the risk of it bending and scratching the bumper. Also, they might just go ahead and put the european mount on the front when u pick it up, either way the european mount will use the same holes as the us verison.

the price could have dropped by now for the mount, or check german e bay bay bay.
