Correct me if I'm wrong but the 3 Series has had a center control knob when ordered with the idrive system since 2006. And as for copying, the 7 Series was the first to use a center control knob in 2001, the rest of the industry has figured some way to incorporate it into their product since. Benz may have been the first to offer it as standard equipment on their entry level models, but its all but useless on models not equipped with the nav package.
