Engine Trouble?

I think I'm having some engine issues on my new C350, it's got 1950 miles on it, had it for 1 and half months.

The engine normally starts pretty smoothly, like I can hear the "starting the car sound" for like 1 second then engine starts. Last week, it happened once where I tried to start the car but it didnt start until it had the "starting engine sound" for 3 seconds. (sorry im not sure what the terminology is, im really not a car guy)

This morning I stopped by starbucks before I went to work, I came out of starbucks, turn my key, I hear the igniting sound, but the engine wont turn on. Since it's the electric ignition, it just kept on trying until I turned the key off. And my car started when I tried the 2nd time.

Is this a problem? I'm sorry if this sounds confusing, I'm not good at explaining car issues.

Do you mean the engine was turning but the cylinders were not firing? The car has always started for me on the first try, fires right up without delay.

The problem I (and some others) have had is a noisy start with what sounds like bearings or a rattling sound for 2-5 seconds after a cold/warm start.

If you can hear the car 'trying to start' and it sounds like some of the cylinders are indeed firing but it's not actually starting up, then you need to take it in to the dealer and have them check it out. Too many unknowns to try and guess what it is at this point, but 2-3 seconds of cranking is too long for it to take to startup. Probably something simple. Maybe you have a small bird nesting in the air intake?

When it starts, does it hesitate at all when you give it some gas?

in other words, the engine isnt turning over. agreed that it could be numerous problems. have them check it out and see if they get a code on it.

Was it cold or raining or unusual weather?

Also, are you using premium fuel only?

When you start the car, don't press down on the gas, this could cause hard starting also.
