C350 with x-pipe sound clip

Call an exhaust shop and tell them you want an X-pipe installed and then have a little faith in a shop to do the right thing. Do as Frank did, look at the part and job when done and move on if all is well.

Didn't we go through all this in another thread! You asked me all the same questions and from what I can see I gave you all the same answers.

Hey frank, what shop did you go to? I might be taking a trip back to OC and might swing by and talk to them. Rather go to someplace who had good results with our car.

If the shop has to build an X-pipe don't be put off as this is just as fine as a formed one if the welds are good.
Many mods are perception of power based on noise and the feeling of having something upgraded. I don't know for fact if there is or isn't an increase but logic and experience tells me little to no performance worth mentioning on our cars in stock trim.

The main thing to look for is a good weld as that's what the job mainly consists of. The first image is a good weld(smooth puddles) and the second a bad welds. Pictures found on internet for reference.

I knew the 4 ends aren't straight. But I am sure the shop can bend them to the right angle.

I miss living in California. so many tuners, so many places that does aftermarket auto works. I did call around places today. None of them carry pre-fabricated x pipe. And if they want to make one, it will cost a fortune. so they just asked me to bring my own.

mandrel bending machine only works for straight pipes. those are no possible to put on the machine to bend it further.
just search for x-pipe. there are tonnes on ebay.

I searched on Ebay. there actually aren't that many.
The only other one i saw is this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STAINLESS-STEEL-EXHAUST-X-PIPE-2-5-FORD-MUSTANG-300ZX_W0QQitemZ160268924989QQcmdZViewItem?hash=ite m160268924989&_trkparms=39%3A1|65%3A2&_trksid=p450 6.c0.m245.l1318
But in the W211 thread, a Exhaust sponsor said that it is not a TRUE x pipe, and it's no good since the middle chamber is too big to create any scavenging effect.
Does anyone know what that means?

Hi Guys
one more question. I know Stainless steel is better than Aluminized Steel. But is there any problem with Aluminized Steel? rust/corrosion issue? Will that take many years before happening so i don't have to worry about it? give me your opinion.

Just order this.
http://www.mandrelbendingsolutions.c.../Detail?no=444
Look similar to the VRP x-pipe, but 1/10 the price.
http://vrptuning.com/cart/index.php?...products_id=20
looks like a reputable company and know they are doing. Hope it's a good one. wish me luck.

My problem with guessing what will work is how much will need to be modified.
• Is the distance between center width of both pipes the same as stock for alignment?
• Is the x-pipe long enough or will another section need to be welded in?
Personally I'd rather have a good welder at an exhaust shop make me an x-pipe unless an off the shelf one fits fine.

The center to center distance between the pipe is about 5"
overall length is about 18".
I think that's pretty universal. If anything, i guess my shop can do a little modification to make it fit.
I do know it will be better for the exhaust to have pre-fab one that's a good fit or make one at the spot. But for some reason, there aren't that many people doing auto tuning/mods. The shop rather I bring my own.
