Didn't get a W204
MB Fanatic, I wouldn't be so quick to tell him to ECU tune it because the 2008 and up with the newer software version will report any ECU fiddling and when BMW finds out it's bye-bye to any engine related warranty. only the first software version from 2007 doesn't report this. if anyone has the older software for the 335 do not let the dealer do any updates to it. a lot of people are upset about this. stock 335 is quick enough tho. around 320-330 hp in reality to the 300 claimed.
It was actually my first choice (in 6MT, of course), but I ended up getting the W204 (6MT) for a variety of reasons. I'm sure you made the right decision for your own set of reasons.
delirium: Your description seems to be the general perception, though I've seen many middle-aged guys and gals driving both the C-class and the 3-series (coupe/sedan).
I was initially looking at the 335 coupe, because I was hell-bent on getting a black 2-door this time around. I bought a white 4-door right out of college (early 20s), and I wanted something different. Well, obviously that plan was a terrific failure: I got another white 4-door.
It's that damn Pano Roof that sold me, I think. I'll be 28 this year. The above concern about BMW/MBZ image was not part of the decision for me.I'm happy with my decision though. I think I made the right choice. I absolutely LOVE the design, and the power is kinda, sorta adequate for my uses. I'm learning to love the suspension.
Again, congrats, jherbias. Now go out and drive it!
I hate the break-in period... but I know this car wants to scream, more than my Z.
I thought about the W204, but the lack of stick on a sport model (which doesn't compare power-wise to BMW and Infiniti, I might add) kinda threw me off. I wasn't happy with the one I sat in in a 2008 auto show either, although the exterior was nice.
Biggest reason I chose this: the looks. I saw one coming out of my neighborhood and I told myself "I am going to get that car." Oddly enough, I never test drove either car. The first time I actually drove the car, was to drive it home.

C vs 3 is not so much about age. it's more about if you want a more comfortable car with some sportiness or if you want a sports car with comfortable features. I think most can tell which is the C and which is the 3.

Its funny you guys mention this. I am a much bigger fan of the C class mostly because the sedan looks way way more agressive than the 3 sedan.
That said, A LOT of younger 20 somethings have the 3 series. It also seems like the e92 coupe a lot more women are driving this time around, I think because its a little more "soft" aesthetic wise. I'm 27, and in a way I think it'd be nice not to be just another 20 something guy with a 3 series. That and my mom is 49 and drives a e90 3 series. My dad also drives a bimmer (x3) .

Sooooooo your telling me i'm old

I'm the only MBZ in the crowd. Kinda nice. The only debate I had was between the W204 and the 3-series Coupe, never the 3 sedan.
When I got my Z I thought I was the only cat in my area to have one... then a few months later you could see one every other minute. I was pretty pissed but that's how loaded people are down here.
I have friends who own a 2004 545i and a 325i fully loaded sedan. The difference? I am the only one who actually pays for the car. And the only one who has a job.

The Bmw coupe was actually on my list when i was shopping last fall but in the end the convenience of the 4 door and the C's newness and sexiness won out !! Regardless thats a hot ride and congrats
