W204 Owners...why get a new W204 over an 06 CLS Sport
For same price as a new W204 can pick up an 06 CLS sport with 20K miles. Woud love to hear why you chose your W204 and if you chose it over a used CLS or not?

ML 350-Black=Sold. New 08 C300 4Matic, Black/Black, P1, Ipod, Auto7speed, 10/10 hit 100,000 miles
I wanted a new car with good mpg and I like the size and style of the W204. Also 4 matic was important to me.

Same here, I wanted a new car. Having the new car smell is a must.
plus I also got the 4matic for winter time. but if you don't mind having a gently used car a CLS is a great alternative.

+1 on the 4Matic, really useful here in Canada and I wanted something compact to zip around downtown.
CLS is great choice also only if its been properly maintained and has a fair amount of warranty left over. Parts and service could cost you a fortune

For one the W-204 is actually engineered by Mercedes and blieve it or not the CLS is manufactured by chrysler engineers. The only thing is the W-204 sits on the new sebring frame but at least its not engineered by them..

So why didn't you get a nice shiny Sebring instead?

u think I'm joking? Go research it.. I know the people at fletcher jones and they told me this and then I heard it again from my friend over at bmw then again at my auto shop. Just like the Chrysler 300 sits on the same frame as an e class..

a quarter mile at a time
MB has never used parts from Chrysler. I'm fairly certain that the sebring and w204 C-class does not even share 1 screw. There were actually very few cars that shared parts. The 300 was built on the older w210 chassis, not the current w211 E-class chassis. Even the Crossfire was built on the older R170 platform instead of the new R171.

ANYWAY, the fact that you believed some salesman who probably has worked there for a month and your BMW "buddy" just goes to show how little you know about the auto industry. The CLS and new C share NO PARTS with chrysler vehicles. Even when a car is based on another vehicle, it still shares VERY few parts with the car it is "based" on. Go meet your FJ and BMW buddies at Sharkeez or something

2008 BMW 335i Coupe (Six-speed Manual)
If I really wanted to save money on a premium car... I would get an econobox like a Kia or Honda and then save up, for a number of years, for a CLS or whatever. I don't like buying used vehicles (our family's had problems with them), especially a high-end one.

Will never consider buying a used car much less a used MB or Porsche as you never know how the previous owner treated the car. ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
I like to be owner from day 1 and have full factory warranty.![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
If I really wanted a CLS, I would go order one from my local MB dealership.

Its a size 10 and im just telling you what ive heard. A well respected guy who has been on overhauling told me about the cls not being enginnered by mb. And the bmw guy wasnt a salesperson he is a guy who competes in auto shows and builds cars and the guy from mb is the head of collision (not some sales person). So judge me wrong but these guys seem to know what there talking about (there all my friends too so there not just some random telling me some :bs u know): ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Just because he was on some TLC tv show with terrible ratings doesn't mean he knows anything... he just might be a good welder.

unfortunately I live in an area with winter weather, so a RWD car is pretty much out of the question so that eliminates a lot of great cars out there.
The CLS is a beautiful car and a gently used one could be had a good price.
I did look at one at one time, but because it was much larger car than I wanted (it's essentially a E-class with 6 more inches in length), earlier build years has some quality issues, and because it was used in addition to not being front or all wheel drive it was scratched off my list.
It's nice to hear that MB is finally offering 4matic on the CL-class, the first time they offered AWD on a coupe. Let's hope they will eventually offer that option across the model line.
