new record: 34.5 mpg on 57 south freeway in so cal over 30 mile drive
34.5 mpg is pretty dang good, my new personal record...
i had it in cruise control at 71 mph, freeway was wide open, ac was on low, did not hit breks or gas once in the 30 mile route
once i got off the freeway and was on city streets with a bunch of stop lights, i reset and the gas milage non freeway was only 18.1 mpg
why is it so much lower on the streets! pisses me off

its a heavy car, so moving it from a standstill or from low speeds take alot of torque. while cruising, the only energy expended is to overcome tire friction and aerodyamic drag.

wow, impressive. I took a road trip this weekend to Long Island (from DC) and I managed to get 27.8 mpg going and 28.2 mpg coming home. A/C was on the entire time.

Congrats!
A couple of weeks back I logged 33.9 for an 82 mile trip from San Bernardino county to Mission Viejo. At the 40 mile mark I was at 39.8 !!
I frequently get 29 mpg on my 50 mile commute to work across LA freeways.

sure, i could coast down that huge 2 mile hill on the 101 freeway north by camarillo at 65 mph with NO GAS pressed, then reset the mpg calculator, and probably get 60 mpg
but I am talking about driving with gas being fed to the throttle...
most possible you could get would be 35 on relatively flat surfaces

I only look at the avg. right now only 3 wks old. it's avg 19.7 mpg. just passed 1000 mile mark and gonna take it in for the first check up soon. plan to change oil at 3k since the first check-up does not include oil change. expecting the mpg avg to go up after the first oil change as well.

After the summer rest, wherein the car didn't get driven much and what trips I did take were either in-town jaunts or over-the-mountains, I went out today and drove my usual commute again.
My previous tank got about 20 mpg. Today's drive got 32.7, from start to finish, a total of about 52 miles. If I had reset once on the freeway and showing 30 mpg, I suspect it would have been higher. Oh well.
The computer seems to do a good job of remembering how to get good mileage, if you let it. Today's commute was about 1 mile on each side of a 50 mile freeway drive. The speeds on the freeway were held by cruise control to 64 mph.
You gotta love a car that gets 7 mpg more on the freeway than the EPA claim.

any 6 spd's here getting good MPG? All cars who are doing 30+ are bone stock correct? I get 24-26 cruising at 2 grand at 60-65 mph and i shift at 3 grand. I did not break 3000 yet

I always keep my cars in the "sport" mode for the transmission. I notice that they have a compression effect when I let off the gas. So, often when I see traffic slowing ahead or know I will be slowing down I pop the selector into neutral for a bit of a coast.
Today I thought... what happens if I try "comfort" mode?
Well, one effect seems that the transmission "freewheels" on deceleration, without that compression effect. I don't think I need to go to neutral.
I'm going to leave it on comfort mode for a while and see what the outcome is.

BTW, I think it's cheating to hit reset once I've reached the highway. I always use the trip computer from startup in the driveway, including city streets and stop lights when reporting trip mileage.
My 39 mpg stretch mentioned above included the initial overhead but the overall trip ended up at 33.9 due to the city streets at the end.
I had an instantaneous mileage readout on my Jaguar and it was fun to watch it max out at 99 mpg from time to time!!

Neutral is fine if you want to use it to save gas. But I think these test you guys are doing should be done using the gears. after all this will give the real results. Plus rolling in nutral isnt recommended if something happed in front of you, you will need the power right away to be safer. In stick shift it would be fine to roll in N cus you could just press the clutch and be ready for any gear. But Auto's are best left in gear. Of course if your on a flat long streach and you can see everthing then go for it.
