Preventing Headlight Washer. How?

In Canada, our headlights are always on when the engine is running, and this causes exaggerated headlight washing when cleaning the windshield. This really drains the tank quickly. Is there an easy - and reversible - way to disconnect the headlight washers while keeping the windshield washers?

Thanks.

I totally agree.
It would be great if someone knows how! Plus if you wash your window when you're stopped, the headlight washers spray all over the car and make terrible marks! Whaaa

I guess I'll have to ask the dealer to do it.

Oh I'd love to know if this is possible... I had just washed my car, and when driving home a bird had so generously given me a gift right in the center of my windshield! So, I figure I'll quickly flick the windshield washer spray and clean it off the glass, well my luck "SPPPPPRATTTTTTT"... the front headlight washers basically spewed washer fluid all over my hood. Not pleasant on a black car. By the time I got home, I had streaks all over the place. Some wash.

At least the headlights are clean! :-)

There is a seperate pump for the headlamp washers. Just disconnect the plug and then they won't work anymore. The washer jets won't pop up because they need water pressure to do so.

The pump is the larger of the 2 pumps. (or 3 if it's a wagon)

headlight washer is controlled by headlights.
if the headlights are off, then headlight washer doesn't spray.
now the problems is that Canadian W204 came with DRL.
this DRL is causing headlight washer to spray everytime when you spray windshield.
to fix the problem, convince dealer to gain access to DRL setting which can be fond on,

Fine in your W203.

In the W204 the pumps are not visible from the engine compartment.

I was under the impression its every 10th wash of the washer fuild that the light washer are turned on. The headlight washer will not spary each time you use the washer. only the 10th wash.

Note to the aftermarket electrical wizzards... make us a kit. The kit should connect with plugs and minimal if any cutting. It should use a factor switch on the center console.

That kit will bypass the every 10th wash and allow us to wash on demand by pushing a button.

I bet the cost of such a kit (relay, some wiring and a switch) won't be over $50 - and you can sell them for $200. I'd get one instantly.

TIA!
