Audio-20?

Hello all,
What is Audio-20? Is that what I have with the standard W204 package W/O the Multimedia? What exactly is this product offering?

http://www.comandonline.co.uk/produc...cat=270&page=1

Does this look like something we can use in the US?
Thanks
Rick

Rick,

Yes the Audio 20 is the standard audio unit without the multimedia screen.

The Kit is a navigation kit that uses the standard screen, the cost seems quite pricey, however as it is a retrofit, when you sell your car you could remove and resell

The advert suggests that it has european maps loaded, might be worth a try and ask if us maps can be uploaded.

Ive used this company for a number of items and always found them excellent for advice

Sorry, I should have made myself clear, you will not need to purchase the mm screen, the kit utilises the standard screen that you already have with the audio 20

It says on there that i uses the Audio 20 screen that you have.

Isn't the MMI the same thing the Mid Center engineering is working on? It's not so simple to install I don't think, is it? I thought they were having to do all kinds of programming to make it work and stuff.

Its not easy to install, i asked a couple of weeks ago by my service manager what the price is, he called me back, it was 2200,00 EURO So thats about USD 3300,00

The reatil price is EURO 1200,00 so they ask about EURO 1000,00 to install.

Because with the audio20 you dont have a GPS antenne, and they also have to change your car's computer... so it isn't easy to built in i think...

Check this out:

If it does work, its a far better option.

2011 BMW 335xi titanium silver.
For my previous car, I purchased the entire used OEM unit from Germany, the unit was 'converted' for North American operation, and the unit was plug and play. I actually did the install with radio removal keys, using all the wiring harnesses provided. The GPS antenna was placed against the metal housing at the fuse box (driver's side panel). Worked well, I typically received between 4-6 satellites.

However, I had to program the ECU (VAG-COM) and set the tire size. When I returned my car, I just swapped head units.

If someone can flash the firmware from EUR to US, upload the DVD maps and has a way to program the ECU, then the OEM route probably the best and cleanest route to take for the upgrade.
