Okay first you should of read the manual. If you go to the dealer they will charge you (some dealers) I would go to your wireless company i know Verizon umm (thats me) would go and pair it up for you i do it everyday The password is any generic password you desire ex: 0000, 1234, etc...
Ron FYI the LG Dare has a Software upgrade available so go stop by a Verizon store and get it flashed

C220d Estate Avantgarde, Obsidium black, command, factory tint. MB CLK240 Iolith Blue / Pebble-Gone
I have a 18 mth old Motorola MotoQ and a N73 nokia which is about 2 yrs and have command in my brand new c. the dealer did it for me at the time of delivery and apparently the other salesmen get him to do it alot as he is the office expert. did each separately and both were unsuccessful despite the car detecting and naming the models of the phones on the sscreen and punching the passnumber into the phone. did it time and again until he turned the phone off and on again (a couple of times) and finally they synched. have to say it took some doing half and hour before he got it. I dont know what it is but it seems to have something to do with turning the phone off and on in the car.

For those having problems syncing, try this - initiate an active call on your cell, then follow thru the regular steps in the manual to search for your cell phone from the comand unit. It worked for me! Even the shop foreman could not get my phone to sync when i took it in.

For emphasis:
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PHONE IS VISIBLE TO OTHER DEVICES (YOU CAN FIND THIS IN YOUR PHONE BLUETOOTH SETTING MENU)
On my HTC Touch Pro2, this was the difference that permitted pairing.

Quick and easy way:
1) Go to the phone
2) Go to the bottom left corner and choose phones
3) Move over to the right (options), then choose external authorization
4) Put your phone in "search/find" mode
5) It will find the MB Bluetooth, then enter ANY 4 digit code on the phone
6) Enter the same 4 digit code on the car
7) Select connect to MB Bluetooth on your phone
***Some phones download all your contacts immediately, some require you to enter them one by one
***For you Blackberry users, you can transfer your address book under the Bluetooth menu on your blackberry and it will automatically download your entire address book.

Thx for posting this; I was given a bluetooth equipped W204 as a loaner while my CLK is in the shop, and it didn't come with a manual! The first call I made got complaints about quality....does that button on the right side of the steering wheel, near the phone/volume control, control the volume of me on BT?

still driving the loaner, and still not able to send the BBerry contacts via Bluetooth (or operate an iPod, but that's another issue!)

I read the manual and couldn't get it to work. Your instructions seem more clear and concise. I'll give it a try...

Calling the same number using the car's controller (which really required being parked) did bring up the name:
Not that big a deal when MAKING a call, as I know who I'm calling; as long as it shows the name when I RECEIVE a call (and it does, at least in the test I did).
Not to go off topic, but as long as I'm posting pics, do you have the aux input in your glovebox? Not the iPod-specific one, just the generic input? The manual seemd to indicate that I'd see an audio boost option:
but I don't:
