Comanche,
If you're asking about the pass code, you clearly didn't read the manual on this one. This should be a fairly easy process. You might want to give it a scan before you go waste money on a new phone. In my wife's car, it was as simple as initiated the search from the car instead of the phone. Not sure why, but it makes a difference.
Good Luck.....

I am also having this issue. I had an older Samsung Trace. It worked great. It recently died and I just got a Samsung Katalyst (like Hutch). It works, but it my phone never auto discovers the car. You always have to erase everything from the car and phone and set-up the connection with password each time you get back in the car. I like the phone, but this a pain. Hutch, was this the same issue you have?

I couldn't get my LG Dare to pair either went to the MB dealer and they sent this kid out and he did it for me. I followed the directions in the manual and I had no problem with my Motorola. The kid did not do it theway it was documented he went to a few screens more and I didn't see because I was outside of the car. Long post longer go to the dealer they will pair it up.

Okay first you should of read the manual. If you go to the dealer they will charge you (some dealers) I would go to your wireless company i know Verizon umm (thats me) would go and pair it up for you i do it everyday The password is any generic password you desire ex: 0000, 1234, etc...
Ron FYI the LG Dare has a Software upgrade available so go stop by a Verizon store and get it flashed

Hutch, thanks for the response. It's good to know that I'm not just doing something wrong and that the no auto-detection is a Katalyst issue.
I have only had the phone for 4 days and have 2 weeks to return it. So, I wonder what other T-Mobile phones might work with the car. The Nokia 6301 looks nice. I hate to keep switching out phones, but I don't want to waste the great bluetooth in the car.

I returned my Katalyst tonight and picked up the Nokia 6301. It connected right away. Unfortunately, it is dropping my calls like crazy in areas I've never had issues. Wow... LOL Unlucky with phones this go around!
T-Mobile said that all Nokias and Motorolas generally work easily with the MB system, if that helps anyone.

Quick and easy way:
1) Go to the phone
2) Go to the bottom left corner and choose phones
3) Move over to the right (options), then choose external authorization
4) Put your phone in "search/find" mode
5) It will find the MB Bluetooth, then enter ANY 4 digit code on the phone
6) Enter the same 4 digit code on the car
7) Select connect to MB Bluetooth on your phone
***Some phones download all your contacts immediately, some require you to enter them one by one
***For you Blackberry users, you can transfer your address book under the Bluetooth menu on your blackberry and it will automatically download your entire address book.

My phone is finally connected to MB Bluetooth
Please make sure that your phone is visible to other device (You can find this in your phone bluetooth setting menu)
If not, MB Bluetooth is not going to be able to detect your phone
Once detected, enter passcode (your choice) on both your MB Bluetooth and your phone. Voila....
