Chevron is my #1 choice, some times I use Costco's
I use any 93 that I find. Does brand really matter?
What should brand I stay away from?

Richard - Your probably good with one of the Top Tier Certified brands like Chevron, Shell, 76, .
I use mainly Shell and Chevron. I tend to like the Chevron more, but can't always get it.

Up here in Washington, Arco and Union 76 are 10% ethanol (that's why they are cheaper) whereas the rest may have about 2%.Originally Posted by KA8
I use anything from Arco, shell, mobil, 76 all premium of course. Honestly all I feel is in my wallet. I avoid no name brand gasoline though
And the no-names like Costco, 7-11 and the other Minimarts are at 10%.
Chevron Premium with no ethanol is what my car likes.

Thats because Costco buys gas from different people depending on the day, week, month, year, etc. They just get whatever they get a deal for that time.Originally Posted by Azn_C300

yup. That's why I said not all costco's are equal. Find out who they source from and hit up the top shelf ones. Originally Posted by mac911

Azn more or less made my point for me before I could get there

In Calif, all gas is the same. Let me repeat: all gas comes from the same flippin' refinery product. If you (general you, not you personally Azn) think there is any sort of difference from one brand to another (dirty gas aside) then YOU (general you) are drinking the coolade.
Don't believe me? Then do the research, find out for yourself.

Those of us in Southern California consume gasoline distilled in one of six petroleum concerns’ refineries.
Valero, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron and BP all tweak their crude in the South Bay.
No telling exactly what goes into its processing. It can be said that their additive packaging often differs significantly – particularly when refilling the underground tanks among discounting retailers.
To RLE’s valid points, our SCAQMD and ARB have long mandated year ‘round oxygenated fuels to help improve air quality. They have, along with stringent biennial tailpipe CO, HC and oxides of nitrogen inspections, dramatically reduced the smog in our region during my four decades here. Downside is substantially increased consumption.
Almost certain mine runs better when driving to and about Mercer Island. :)

any premium in the US, ussually Getty
I shake my head in horror. Toluene, Xylene, Alcohols etc all vary Motor & Research Octane in different ways - The %age of these components suggested would screw the distillation curve of the fuel if the blend stock had not been tailored to accept them.
