Audi style Daytime Running Light LEDs...

I've always loved the Audi style LEDs, and more and more high end cars/exotics are starting to follow trend. (ie. Porsche Turbo, Ferrari F430, Lambo LP560, etc), so I don't see this as a complete rip off of the Audi design. So I decided to embark on a little project this weekend and quickly created a crude mock up of DRL LEDs for the W204 C-class. I only did one headlight, but you can get a general idea of what my idea looks like, and no it's not a Pshop. I tried my best to take pictures that represent the actual color of the LEDs, which IMO is very difficult to do but I think I pulled it off. But as is the case with most things, looks even better in person.

It's getting late as I just managed to take some decent pics so I won't go into much detail right now, but basically I think something like this could easily be manufactured for the masses and the install very simple (ie. 10 min), AND look oem.

Anyhow, let me know what you guys think, good or bad.

It looks pretty cool actually.

I just don't think a gorgeous machine like a C63 needs it.

Sounds like you could make some money on it though. Really nice work.

Great Job Nrgy!

I am very interested! This is the Best-Looking eyelid mod I’ve seen, IMHO.

Before you install the right side, could you snap a shot of what you used? Maybe where you purchased them…

Awsome!

There are a few aftermarket LED strips out there which you can rig your own R8 DRL look lights. Here's one:

it looks great!
Id place it towards the bottom of the brow against the lines.

IMO it would look better if the LED's blue were lighter

Looks awesome. Close to OEM. And I agree: this is the best looking eyelid mod (LED or not) that I've seen so far. I personally would've gone whiter in color, though.

I just posted up a follow response in the C63 forum, but yeah as I said earlier this is still a work in progress/concept stage. I'm hoping someone with more DIY ability than me can take the idea further.

And yeah I agree these LEDs are a little too purplish. I need to find some whiter ones to experiement with.

There are quite of few led strips out there if you google them, like aowhaus just posted. The problem with a lot of these though, is they are spaced too close together.

nrgy I think it is fantastic to see someone stepping up to with their ideas!

because you mentioned about having the LED's on the rims of the brow line
as well as the bottom portion of the headlights I decided to make a CG

Im hoping that some aftermarket parties can take this to the next level by implementing them to their products.

IMO I Prefer the brow lines rather than the bottom of the headlights (they are too similar to the audi style)

I like the first set you did (brow line)...looks really good (with white LED's)

I really hope someone could make a DIY that wasn't too hard...I can barely install a license plate

I think it looks rather amazing, but even more so if the LEDs were white, instead of the blueish color. Still looks good nonetheless.

How did you manage to turn on the eyelids and not the sidemarkers?

I think he didn't actually install these lights, he's just hanging the LED lights.

That is really really neat
I want to do that to my c-class. My FUTURE c-class. You see, I'm on the verge of getting one because now i have a lexus and i like luxury cars a lot because of the lexus. I just have to make sure I can get purple dome lights, but then it's mine!

I will make sure the ladies say 'wow' in conjuntion with seeing my interior purple radiant LEDs, they will also now see the purple DRL LEDs in the beed style along the purple headlight. Yep, purple is the way to go. It makes the girls (YEAAA!) say wow and compement my lexus. That's how i know I like purple!

Soon as I get my c-class (this week or possible next), I am going to deck it out with purple... even YOUR IDEA!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP. You seem like you're as cool as the people at superbrightLEDs.com who make purple dome lights (they're friendly too)! They're really really cool, now YOU make purple lights too. That's how I know you're cool.
