Will my aftermarket HID kit void my car's warranty?
Dear Friends:
I did not get the P2 for HID so I installed the aftermarket one from DDM tuning, their HID works great, no flicker, no error message, I am pretty satisfied with this HID kit.
I am going to do my service A this weekend and want to confirm with you guys if they see my HID kit, will they void my car's warranty?
Please reply![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Best Regards.
Alex.

Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty-Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975, aftermarket equipment, which improves performance, does not void a vehicle?s manufacturer original warranty (unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle?s warranty, or if the aftermarket devise is the direct cause of the failure).
They may not be able to void your warranty- but they can "Black Flag" your cars vin. If you have future electrical system problems- they might try to link it back to the lights.
You might also want to know that the factory harness for the lights runs all the way to the back of the vehicle. I was quoted somewhere around $1500 for the harness not including labor. That being said- I bought PIAA bulbs.

And having nearly finished the installation of the backup camera kit with all the wiring, connections and so on, I am not the least bit concerned. Of course, if my MM package goes up in smoke at some future time, I would likely remove the camera connections to the nav unit.
But, it wont.

I asked the local dealer here in dominican republic and they told me that i wil loose the warranty in the electrical part but they will honored the warranty in the motor and transmission. I installed it anyway and and planned to take them out and put the bulbs when i have to go to the dealer.

Really depends on the dealer. If your dealer is PITA to work with, then yes he will claim BS and void the electrical part of warranty only. If he is cool he will look past it.
When DIYing hide ballasts well out of sight so they won't see them. Since HID conversion gives no errors they won't be able to tell you modded your lights.
