Buying 09 Today - One Final Decision

Hey guys, sorry I tried posting this in the appropriate thread, but no responses. I am going to buy my 09 C300 4Matic Sport after work today. They have 2: one with aluminum trim and one with the burl wood trim (the brown trim). I was just wondering what you guys thought? The Wood costs like $300 I think, but it doesn't feel as light of material as the aluminum. However, the aluminum's color goes better with the car...

I wen with the aluminum just because the wood really didn't "fit" with my interior color with is the grey/black combo. I plan to either get the black birdseye maple or carbon fiber later on.

Between the aluminum and burl walnut trim for a black/grey interior, I'll pick the aluminum. You are getting a sport and not a luxury model after all.

Personally, I would choose the black birds-eye maple to go with the black/grey interior.

Good luck and have fun you with new ride. Don't forget to post pictures.

Here is a snapshot of my Palladium 2009 C350's Grey/Black TEX interior. I think the Balck Birdseye Maple combo is an attractive alternative to the standard aluminum finish on the C300.

Wow, that grey/black blackwood looks awesome. Mine is going to be all black on the inside. They have 2 at the dealership right now, one with the brown wood and one with aluminum. I don't think they have the black wood, I didn't see it on the MB website either...

Also, Shawn, you can get carbon fiber trim? Is it expensive, and is it difficult to install?

If its an all black interior I would go with the wood trim, it looks much more suitable for a $40k car. The silver trim in my car is starting to "dent" and scratch from getting in and out of the car or where the seat belt got a little wild and hit the door.

For a black interior get the walnut, aluminum looks cheap.

Not cheap, Formymercedes.com has it from schaetz in Germany for like 3000 for the 14 pieces. I'm going to actually go to schaetz here and see how much it is direct.

It's all about personal preference.

I would never go with wood trim myself, unless it was black birdseye maple. And so for a black interior... get the aluminum. Walnut doesn't look sporty enough.

Wow, $3k is a lot for the trim. I appreciate everyone's input. I ended up going with the aluminum trim. Took it home last night, very excited. It was actually in the delivery garage next to a S65 (I think that was it, it was a V12) in royal blue. The salesman said it's Carlos Zambrano's car! I thought that was cool.
