Instrument cluster frame color

I have an artic white C350 with black interior. Although I like mostly everything in the interior, I felt that something was off. I came to realize that the silver frame to the instrument panel does not match with the rest of the black interior dash. In fact, the metal rings to the gauges would even stand out better with a black frame. I think the luxury models have it in black.
Question is: has anybody ever considered this mod: silver to black gauges frame?

Let me know

When you say frame you mean the panel which the gauges are seated in? I do like the look of the dash in that left picture. Although truthfully I've never minded the aluminum either...undecided.

That's correct. With everything in black (different from the right pic), the silver panel does not match. I think all black looks classier.

My vote is in favor of the silver, as is. It does a very good job matching the rings of the gauges. I like it.

But, make a left turn sometime at a stop light, at night. Immediately you make the turn, the silver instrument surround turns RED. It reflects the red light from the other direction. Cool. First time I saw that, I thought something had really gone wrong in the car and the dash lit up red. Nope, just the reflection!

The silver dash matches the metal trim on the doors and console. Though I do like the black. Now CF would be nice.

I've been there too and did plenty of photoshops. I'll probably crack that open one day and get it blacked out or layered in CF when I finally swap all my silver pieces with CF.

Hey AZN,

Do you know how to open the plastic cover to reveal the gauge bezel?
Painting it in black may be a good idea. I asked and they don't have a replacement part yet. Dealership told me they'd have to replace the whole instrument cluster which made no sense (around $1K)

it anything, it matches the other mettalic pieces in your car, and the shift knob. those that have wood in the interior, it might be out of place.

though with the 09 and the hood guages, i think it looks better

Going with the silver look. I think the all black look across the dash is already a bit too much. Looking to try to break that up a bit. I do like the wood trim on the wheel
