Cabin filter change
Does anybody else notice that the "recirculate button" always refreshes to "OFF". Specifically, when I hit the recirculate button, then turn off the air, and turn it back on, the recirc is off.
Thought to myself "the cabin filter will probably wear faster than my other cars."
Anybody know the part number for the OEM cabin filter?

To access the filter, you must remove the panel forward of the glove box (three Torx bolts) which in my car was pinned in by the lower side panel which comes out after peeling off the door gasket. Far from user friendly but since the filter won't have to be changed nearly as often, I can live with it.
I think the filter is changed at the B service.

My car will be one year tomorrow since delivery and has not been on any long trips but has been driven around town nearly every day and our air is dusty in certain areas.

I think the filter might last 20K miles or so but I'll look at it again when the mood strikes me. The part number is on the filter which I failed to write down but I do know I will not pay dealer prices for it or the engine air filters which I found needed changing at about 16-20K miles.
According to the first post in this thread, there's a filter under the passenger side dash.
There is also a filter in the engine compartment right next to the firewall.
This is a U.S. model and that might cause the design to be different.
Is one considered the "combination filter" while the other is the "cabin air filter?"
Without taking my dash apart, could it be that if you have the filter in the engine compartment there wouldn't be one under the dash?
The air intake box in the engine bay is only a water trap air intake, no filter there.
Sorry man, I must be losing it.
I was dead certain that there was a filter in that box and had to actually open it to convince myself that there wasn't one there.
Thanks for saving the day......again.
If the cabin filter slid into place, I can't see why you wouldn't have air moving. Maybe remove and reistall again making sure the slides/clamps are sealing off the filter properly?
Double check all connections, and if your car is still under warranty - act stupid and bring it in. Just say, wtf is happening? lol
Have you tried pulling the CEL from the memory bank and finding out what it is? Any autozone, pep-boys or similar store would do this for free.
There is NO filter in the underhood water trap leading to the heater fan.
And by the way, I just looked up when I last changed the cabin filter and find that was 8/9/09 at 14711 miles. Now, fifteen months and 9100 miles later I am going to change it again because I'm getting too much dust inside, collecting below the instruments and on the wood around the shifter. I also see I paid the crazy price of $62.37 from the dealer (with my MBCA discount, yet) vs the eighteen bucks and change from autohausaz.com. I never use the term stealership but in this case, well..........
