Where is the C class assembled?

I keep forgetting to look at the label on the new C when I'm at the dealer looking but where is the Canadian C300 assembled, Germany?

I just asked the sales rep. at the dealer that very question on Saturday. According to him, all Canadian cars come from Germany. The US gets vehicles from both Germany and South Africa (South African cars are shipped to the southern states, Central and South America).

According to him, the sales volume in the US cannot be met by German plants alone so they supplement by shipping in from South Africa.

The three I was considering here in Atlanta were all German builds...luck of the draw I suppose

At least it was not hit by the "sabotage" that happened in Sindelfingen. I don't think the assembly plant should make a real difference for MB cars.

There's already a thread on this: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ur-c-made.html

Side note, mine's a SA build (was bought in NC). 23k miles and zero problems.

I've been to the Sindelfingen plant... What sabotage are you talking about?

This is not correct. South Africa has the contract for US build - to be topped up from Germany - Sedans only. Obviously DB do a balancing act between plants.

The W204 is mainly built in Sindelfingen, Bremen & East London - South Africa. Production from CKD kits also takes place in countries like Vietnam - Vietnamese built C Classes are probably the best assembled. That's where I would like my car from. SA easily matches German (Turkish labour) quality & does a better job with paint & leather.

But I don't expect you being guilty. And I've been there too but I'm neither guilty.

This is already an old issue, some of their quality control people at final inspection were claimed to be creating faults for cars to be delivered to Germany, bringing profit for some local workshops who then fix those issues. You would find some old threads giving details if you're interested.
