Getting new C350

Hi All:

Thanks to all the info from this forum, I am picking up my very own 2008 C350 RWD on Wednesday.

C350, Automatic,P2, MM, Ipod,18" AMG wheels, Grey/Blk

MSRP = 44K. I am getting it for 32,700+tax+dmv. There are some rebates for 2008 models.

The car is new and not a demo. Do you think its a good deal?

I live in NJ and have driven a RWD BMW 325 in the snow without any problems, so I did not go for 4matic. The dealer says 90% of the C-classes sold by them are 4matic. Does that sound right?

In any case, I am very excited.

whats a good snow tire for NJ? we get 6" or more snow maybe 7 days a year. is it worth the hassle of changing snow tires? do i need to buy wheels too, or will they fit into existing wheels?

You might want to consider getting one with leather if this one has vinyl (cleverly renamed MB-Tex), especially since you have some very nice equipment on the car.

Better off getting a second set of wheels and mounting snow tires (Pirelli SottoZero are great). Then you do not have to deal with the remounting of the tires. There are plenty of OEM 204 takeoffs in the classifieds.

18" snows might not leave too much clearance and might be more costly. As previously mentioned, get 17" snow rims you can beat around in the snow and salt. I previously mounted Blizzak LM-25 XL on my Audi and performed well.

Good deal on the car.

it's a benz
For the price you're paying, it's almost half of what a c350 cost up here.

That's a great price! I thought I already got a pretty good price on mine with $5000 off. I would take it if I was you.

By the way, US doesn't have 4WD C350 yet.

I live in central PA and am originally from Buffalo. ( I know something about driving in snow). I don't believe you need snow tires (or a 4 matic) in NJ. Just a good set of All Season tires will do fine. When it does snow, just take it easy. Keep a light touch on the brakes. You'll be fine.
